I know this team is probably going to end up with the third or fourth worst records in the majors this season, but this team is also oddly 100 times more enjoyable than last season's abomination.

I have no idea how next year's team is going to do, though I'm cautiously optimistic. One thing we know for sure is that it's going to be the most interesting/fun to watch since at least 2009.

By a mile. I haven't gotten nearly as angry or hopeless as last year. Rizzo has shown some leadership, there's at least SOME younger talent to watch....bullpen has generally been better too. Now if we can only get rid of Lake and Schierholtz. AND JACKSON

They interviewed Baker after the game and he mentioned he's available to pitch again today if needed. Hasn't reached his innings limit yet.

He might need to.

I wonder what the crowd would look like right now if we were in contention.

Trying to remember if we had any crazy long home games like this in 08, 07, 04, or 03...

Longest home games by year:

2008: Loss in 12 to the Marlins and win in 12 over Milwaukee where Derrek Lee singled off Carlos Villanueva.

2007: Losses to Pittsburgh in 15, San Diego in 14, Seattle in 13 and Milwaukee in 12. Best Cubs record entering any of these games was 15-14 before the Pittsburgh loss.

2004: Beat Colorado in 13 on a Corey Patterson single and beat Pittsburgh in 12 on a Corey Patterson HR. Lost three 12-inning games in September, one to Montreal and two games on back-to-back days to Cincinnati during that wonderful 2-7 stretch to end the year.

2003: Beat Houston in 16 on a Sosa single, beat St. Louis in 15 on a Sosa HR in Game 1 of a DH during the 5-game set in September and beat Arizona in 14 on a Ramirez single.
