I remember Brenly laughing hysterically when Len was talking about how Collmenter learned his extreme over-the-top delivery by throwing tomahawks at trees. Go Cubs.

Such a nice change to see Arietta after the two BP pitchers we've had the last few games.

All we need to do now is get more than one of them and we'll be golden.

you have got to be [expletive] [expletive] me. that is the most [expletive] rule ever in sport

Seriously.

if the ball is dead when he flips into the dugout why should anyone be able to advance a base. seriously, wtf

because then a defender would leap into the stands with the ball to prevent the runners from advancing.

I see no reason it should be a dead ball. If the fielder breaks a leg going into the stands and can't get a throw off fine, but the runners should have to advance at their own risk. It was enforced correctly, but it's just a dumb assed rule.

I still think it's dumb as a blanket rule, but:

@LenKasper: The rule works for this reason--eliminates intentionally going out of play as defender to "kill" play. Base is given to runners as result

then the player just fakes an injury, and what do you do if a fan interferes if it's live? You need a rule that covers this situation and you can't leave it up to umpire discretion.

I didn't mean the ball should be dead in case of an injury. Poorly worded. If a fan interferes, the runners can't advance regardless.
