Hopefully they've duct taped all of Soler's parts together and he stays healthy. With his contract situation, I want him to be given a shot to start next year in the majors.

Black with 3 walks in 3+ innings.

Looking at Alfonso Soriano's OBP and the fact he was DFA'd today, I'm just glad we found someone to take him.

DFA? That's really kinda sad in a way. It's a shame there will be the usual morons who will laugh about that.

We better hurry up and trade Russell for one of the pitchers in the Mets' dumpster before they see the box score today.

I hope we find a place in the org for Sori.

And hopefully it has nothing to do with instructing younger players...except for like, teaching them to have a good attitude, maybe.

He can be the plate-approach Goofus to Manny's Gallant.

Love it.

Manny in LF, Alcantara in CF and Soriano in RF. Talk about giving Arismendy a crash course in getting to balls in the gaps!

Everyone, including the FO, raved about his work ethic. In fact, Jed or Theo even mentioned he'd be welcomed back in some capacity, after his playing career was over, if he were interested.

Ha! Given that Soriano usually heats up in the 2nd half anyway, a line-up of:

Alcantara CF

Valaika 1B

Baez SS

Manny LF

Bryant 3B

Soriano RF

Watkins 2B

Lopez C

might actually be better than the major league club on certain days. Of course, the ERAs of the pitching staff would likely rise...

Marathon extra inning affair for KC today. Skulina had been dealing with a left knee issue and got rocked in the first inning of his last start, reaching his 30 pitch per inning limit and getting pulled so having him pitch today kinda made sense. It looked it would just be a minor piggyback start for Tseng, but turned into a full-fledged 5 inning "start" with him pitching very well...again. 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K.

Bryant Bryants. #30 on the year.

I always assumed he'd need a little time to adjust there, but I never really considered what his normal numbers would look like if they end up being inflated further by the PCL.

If he Brett Jacksons and loses 400 points of OPS between AAA and MLB, he's still an .800 OPS player.

Honestly, I think Manny is much better of a choice obviously. But Manny is legitimately teaching, as he should be. Sori played long enough and is certainly loved by his teammates. No clue what he'd be doing, but surely there's a role somewhere. Helping kids acclimate to the everyday grind? Recruiting in the Dominican?

Hell, he probably just wants to kick back and relax. But if he wants more, I'd find him something. Sure, he wasn't a great example to model after, but neither was Kerry and he's at least doing something for them.
