Susan Slusser confirmed the talks and that Russell is in play. I think it's got to be both Shark and Hammel IMO. Targeting quality over quantity although i'm sure more would be involved.

I think the Feldman trade spoiled us and no matter how good Hammel is, he's still a half season rental. If he has to be involved to upgrade a Shark return from good to great, so be it. But I know where you're coming from.

 

Edit: or maybe it's just for Shark straight up and this is all irrelevant.

A - Samardzija is more than just a rental. 1.5 cheap seasons left.

 

B - uh, aren't all trades that eventually happen imminent at one point? and if you're talking about how they're reported, i still don't recall any of our trades coming completely out of thin air.

There's been a lot of chatter lately that prospects are becoming overvalued on the trade market (Friedman came out and said it the other day) and hence speculation that a smart GM would start to work trades the other way.

 

Beane strikes me as *exactly* the guy to do it.
