Wladimir Galindo hit another HR today, his 6th. Slash line of .297/.374/.545 thru 145 ABs. Stats are pretty meaningless at this level, but they do take on more meaning when you're those numbers up at 17 years old. Be interested to see what he can do stateside next season.

Tsuyoshi Wada came in from Iowa's bullpen. Definitely looks like he's starting one of the games for the big league Cubs doubleheader next week.

Rehabbing Max Fried started against the AZL Cubs and threw one inning. Gleyber Torres struck out but then Jorge Soler, Eloy Jimenez and Kevonte Mitchell each got a single off him.

16 straight homerless games for Javy :(

But Jeffrey hit his fifth of the season. Leads the NWL.

No idea what's actually going on, but my somewhat optimistic take is that as he's learning to control the strike zone, he has dialed the aggression back. Once he gets a firmer handle on when and when not to hack, he can turn it loose on hittable pitches, not virtually all pitches, as he had been.

I think it's just a transition period, and I'm not worried about his power disappearing (though I think that if he ever becomes a 40+ HR guy, it'll take a few more years than we were hoping for).

Do we want to see him learn to control the strike zone, or do we want to see him sock a few dingers?

Obviously both, but he wasn't going to do either the way he was going. He was either going to learn to control the zone (better, not necessarily become Joey Votto), or he was going to bust. I think the power will return as his pitch identification gets better. The power isn't going away, not with that bat speed.

First day of the monsoon season in the Desert Southwest and the AZL Cubs get suspended because of a haboob.

did azphil ever say what was going on with Jimenez?

As far as I can tell, he never said anything, but whatever it was (minor injury, more instruction) it was seemingly worth the wait...

Arizona Phil mentioned Jimenez had an injury about a week before Instructs ended and Eloy was about a week at that time. It might have flared up again.
