What happened?

Bonifacio crumpled into a heap immediately after hitting a ground ball to short.

That's fine, but we need someone besides Barney at 2B.

Valbuena can play there too. Bringing up Watkins, who is worse than Barney in pretty much every respect, doesn't do much to help the problem of Barney being bad(and Barney has been fine in the last month or so).

yeah, part of the problem is that olt is such a nothing that we're already sort of a man short.

Given the league average OPS is .709, Barney is a net asset at a .670 OPS given his defense.

Since May 7th he has 66 PA and a .675 OPS, when paired with elite defense that's not a big problem. Definitely not a problem that Logan Watkins can fix.

That said, if the FO feels Alcantara is ready, bring it on and let him play every day, mostly at 2B with some CF sprinkled in. But the bigger issue is that Olt can't hit whatsoever right now if we're talking about who plays the position that Valbuena does not.

Alcantara's numbers have trended downward each month, so I'm not a proponent of bringing him up right now. There just really aren't any options that are even decent down there right now. If Barney can look less incompetent at the plate, then he's the best of a bunch of bad options.

That's not correct. His May was better than April and he was on fire (10 for his last 25) until yesterday.
