Would we be competing for a WS this year?

Cubs had a chance to get one of the best sports owners of this generation and of course the Cubs curse came in the way and prevented it.

I wish there was a way to force Ricketts to sell. I know Cuban would be still interested today if the Cubs were for sale again.

Cuban walked away from the deal because of how Zell wanted it structured. He never was going to buy the Cubs. The only way was to change the terms, but then a lot of others would have bid too.

No, because like CubinNY said had he become owner he would have been under the same structure with the spending limitations (he's admitted this). He have probably tried to spend a little more and maybe we would have had a little bit better records over the last few years but not title contenders.

I do think Cuban would have handled the renovation problems much better and they'd be started by now, IMO. He would not have stood for the tomfoolery of the rooftops.

I think the major league team would be better and they'd be much further along with the renovation stuff. Though who knows what Cubans' plans along those lines would have been; obviously anyone who bought the team was going to have to fix/rebuild Wrigley itself, but the rest is pretty subjective.

Under the same restrictions, I still voted yes. I think there would have been creative ways being used to sidestep some of the debt structure mess and I think the renovations would have been started long ago. I also think that he would have told Theo to go apeshit on IFA's last year, instead of barely going over the limit. And my guess is at least one of Darvish or Tanaka would be a Cub right now. He would have taken risks that Ricketts won't,

The major league team would be better off.

The minors probably wouldn't be as robust as they are now.

Ricketts wants to sell shares of the Cubs to fund rennovations, right?

How about he makes an appearance on Shark Tank so Cuban can invest.

I voted no. I think the Cubs would be less bad, but I don't think they'd be a viable contender unless Cuban had come in and bought all the big fish FAs.
