I'd say pitchers performing well early is better than hitters, probably because their off-speed stuff isn't as sharp and the velocity isn't where it will be... or maybe it's hitters because they haven't seen live pitching in awhile and their pitch recognition and timing is off.

 

Or maybe an intrasquad game on 2/26 doesn't mean [expletive] anything.

It looks like he’s using his secondary pitches in live [batting practice] the way he wants to. If he wants to bury a pitch he does it, if he wants to go off the corners he can.”

RHRP Armando Rivero had a strong oyuting, throwing 1.1 IP of perfect baseball with two swinging strikeouts. His splitter was dive-bombing opposing hitters today, and was virtually unhittable.

Rivero isn't going to become a starting pitcher. He may start games to get innings, but he is a reliever.
