His column in MMQB today is pretty great

Definitely.

Look at the picture and again tell me I am being a homer about what he was doing to Crabtree. Read Crabtree's reponses today and watch his interview. Clearly Crabtree is not the "Face" to Sherman's "Heel" in this situation.

I freely admit that I am a Seahawks fan and I will likely be the dissenting voice here but reading the comments, I don't understand the vitriol. Sherman gave an honest interview and has written a very good article in response. Russell Wilson is one of the most likable players in the NFL. Seahawks football is a good story of success when it looked like they were going to leave the city. Seattle is one of the most beautiful places to live in the nation and is one of the most unknown parts of the nation by the general public. Hopefully the superbowl will help shed some light on this.

As far as the upthread comments on the drug use, look at the graph and tell me who is in 2nd place only 1 player behind - the Broncos. As far as the suspensions this year, they are NOT PED related. Marijuana is legal in Washington and Browner and Thurmond were caught with it. Nothing PED related and nothing illegal.

I found this amusing

I wasn't commenting on the nature of their suspensions, just on the fact that they had been suspended. That said, they're idiots for being caught with pot when they can be suspended for it regardless of whether or not it's legal in Washington state. Also, Browner has surely cost himself millions of dollars just because he couldn't stay away from it. And yeah, the Broncos don't have a sterling reputation themselves, but doubling up the number of suspensions is still kinda over the top.

you guys do realize that Sherman went over to Crabtree first and told him good game and held out his hand to shake and crabtree shoved him off...

The Niners displayed worse sportsmanship than all of that during the kneeldowns...Aldon Smith took a shot at Wilson and Wilson just tapped his helmet and left. On the last kneeldown the guy on the left side of the D-line popped Giacomini (Right Tackle).

definitely chippy. Sherman was brutally honest about it all instead of the boring crap like "played a good game...blah blah" However, this whole thing started on Thursday when Crabtree told reporters that Sherman was a nobody and he didn't study the film on him because he didn't matter.

Sherman was targeted the least of any corner all year but somehow led the league in Interceptions. Good Player.

For those of you hating on the seahawks now because they have a coach that people have irrational hate for and because their players speak whats on their minds instead of the mindless dribble, all power to you but after 2/2 I think that some of you may turn that around.

Oh yeah, I have an irrational hatred for Pete Carroll. [expletive] is a truther. I hope someone asks him what he thinks about 9/11 on media day so he's exposed to the whole country for the raging douchebag he is.

You realize that the % of people that believe that 9/11 was a shadyass event is actually extremely high. I cant remember what newspaper did a poll on it, but it was something like 40%. That's not a reason for hating Pete Carroll.

Two things stick out for me

1st is when he went to Crabtree after the INT. No need to kick a man while he's down and you know that's exactly what he was doing. He basically admitted it from his post game interviews. Same thing with the choke. That's high school maturity level right there. That picture gives zero context and yes you are being a homer for bringing that up. Crabtree is a spoiled brat and he acted like it as well. Sherman didn't stop after Crabtree either. What about this picture?

http://larrybrownsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/richard-sherman-choke.jpg

2nd is his "getting caught up in the moment". It wasn't. There was a minute left in the game and 49ers called 2 timeouts. Sherman had plenty of time to calm down/gather himself. It wasn't like that was the very last play and Erin Andrews came up to him like 20 secs later.

I don't have a problem with what he said (talking crap about Crabtree/Kaep/whoever else) and being honest/cocky. It was how it came across. He made Erin Andrews uncomfortable. You know it's bad when you make the interviewer uncomfortable enough that she cut the interview short. It was just poorly executed, bad sportsmanship, and very childish all rolled into one IMO. Did he even thank/talk about the organization/city/fans/teammates/etc in his post game interviews? All I remember is him yelling about Crabtree, the choke was for Kaep, and then Peyton Manning/Super Bowl.

I agree with you on the 2nd half of the 2nd part. As for the 3rd part, you're wrong. Sure it's legal in Washington NOW and not PED related, but it wasn't when they got caught (I could be totally wrong as I'm not sure when that was passed). Also it wouldn't matter if it's legal because NFL says it is illegal. It's like taking a drug test at work. They can still suspend/fire/etc you if you got tested positive even though it's now legal. You still have to comply with the rules and Browner/Thurmond didn't.

EDIT: I don't hate Sherman. If fact, I like him a lot and wish he was on the Bears. I just think he could've handled the whole thing a lot better. Dude is extremely smart and knows how to push buttons or let everyone know what's up. He done a lot off the field as well. I've heard that he wants to go in announcing after he retires and that's awesome IMO. The way he ripped Skip Bayless was amazing. It's why I'm disappointed in the way he acted because of all that. Perception is reality and all that stuff.

I honestly think much of the "vitriol" as you put it is because you ARE being such a homer about this and you are so adamant that everyone else is somehow being unfair about it, like this is something that you can prove. It's silly.

Sherman seems like an intelligent person but in this instance he acted classless. Fine, no big deal, but stop making him out to be some great guy because Crabtree is a douche. Also, Pete Carroll is disliked for reasons that have nothing to do with the Seahawks. I personally think Harbaugh is pretty much an [expletive] too.

And as far as selling the city Seattle to everyone, that's just crazytalk. I have a very good friend there and it is a beautiful town, but the level of self-importance amongst much of the population there really turned me off. But that's just like, my opinion, man.

as a person who has lived in both cities for an extended period of time, i have to say that on one hand, Seahawk fans are the absolute ultimate in fairweather, but on the other, Bronco fans are actually the most annoying, butthurt, excuse-making idiots in creation. And this is coming from someone who lives among Packer fans, who seem quite tame and calm by comparison. Is the biggest butthurt, excuse-making fan on this board.

Let it go. Enjoy the success of your team, but in no way are you convincing anyone that Sherman is anything but a POS and that should be fine with you.

I was amused by Sherman's behavior last night. It was entertaining, but it was the epitome of bad sportsmanship.

And no one can deny (except maybe a Seahawks fan) that Seattle has had a large number of drug relate suspensions.

Enjoy them for what they are a good football team that wins right now, but trying to make them out to be choirboys, well that's just comical.

I know what it means. But POS seems pretty extreme. You're the first one I've heard refer to him like that (other than the psychos on deadspin)

Sherman has pretty much been an ass to half the NFL. He's had run-ins with Brady, was punched by Trent Williams....

I think he's nuts. That doesn't mean I didn't find his antics entertaining last night. In fact, I was laughing my ass off. With the NFL legislating a lot of fun out of everything, that was great.

Nah, that's probably a lot more tolerant than I am of the population in general.

I find it hard to believe 40% of Americans are truthers.
