I would be OK with adding a couple regular season games, but two preseason tilts are all I can stand.

The vibe I get is that Emery and Trestman are pretty straight forward with the players and they know where they stand.

Wants a 18 game regular season, yes. But I'm pretty sure that would mean only 2 preseason games.

I believe that's right, the 2 weeks gained by cutting the preseason would go towards an extra game+bye week.

Yeah, I've never heard anybody talk about adding preseason games. The whole thing has been about an acknowledgement that preseason sucks but not wanting to get rid of the gate receipts (although those must pale in comparison to the TV money).

 

 

It might be better to see something like a B bracket tournament. Let four or eight teams that don't make the playoffs play some more games, and give the winner of that tournament something like the 5th pick in the draft. Some 9-7 doomed to miss the playoffs and still draft 20th has a chance to play for playoff shares and a boost to the next year's team.

I'd be fine with starting the regular season two weeks earlier. I love early season warm weather football.

Waddle and Silvy (and maybe JD) were talking about the Bears brass wanting to bring Palmer back as a coach as soon as he's done playing. After seeing the work he did with guys like Bortles in the offseason, seems like he could step in immediately and be a good QB coach.

Bears have waived CB Isaiah Frey and released OL James Brown, team said. Those moves reduce their roster to the league-mandated 75 players

By cutting Frey there are now only 2 draft picks from Emery's first draft. After Shea's inevitable failure as a LB there will only be Alshon left.

Yeah, like I said earlier in this thread, rather keep Frey over Hayden. But this may mean going with 5 CBs (maybe a mistake w/ Tillman's potential injury problems), but hopefully that 5th will be younger than Hayden.

 

Was figuring Brown was gone. Ola, Leno, and Britton have all shown they can play OG and OT. Britton is better than Brown, the other 2 are younger (Ola's at least been better too).

Chicago revamped their pass rush by bringing aboard Jared Allen and Lamarr Houston. Shea McClellin is close to becoming a force, as well. A full season of Lance Briggs will help. Improved safety play would complement Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman.

 

The Bears were seventh in standard fantasy points last year, and now people are ignoring them after they install more talent? Their schedule could be difficult late in the year, but it looks manageable early on.

The schedule is also more difficult early on. Granted, not a lot of big time scoring teams before the bye other than GB and NE. But the Bears had most issues with run D and they play top 7 run games from last year in Buffalo, SF, NYJ, and GB all in the 1st half. Carolina and NE were also top 11 in rushing last year.
