That's fantastic news. Cutler and Jennings were the two most important signings.

Slauson was a great one, too.

Very true. Slauson was really good this past year.

He is teasing us now

He sounds like he has something else to announce, but maybe that's just his typical odd cadence.

Hard to tell, but he knows the elephant in the room

Happy they did this so quickly. Love the Jennings and Slausson signings too. Very happy overall.

Yep. I didn't want the Cutler thing to linger.

Emery is really laying out the reasoning for getting rid of Tucker here.

I'm hearing him blaming injuries.

And himself.

So David Haugh shows up late to the press conference and then calls out Emery for being to upbeat?

David Haugh ‏@DavidHaugh 8m

Wait...the Bears didn't make the playoffs, right? Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. Listening to Emery, it's hard to tell.

David Haugh ‏@DavidHaugh 13m

Walked in Halas Hall in time to hear Emery discuss why signing Jay Cutler to 7-year deal makes sense. Can't say I'm surprised. Lots of hints

Just taking a wild guess here at $$$...

Slauson: 4 yr/8 mil (made $815k this year and just over a mil in 2012)

Jennings: 4 yr/24 mil (cap hit was 5.1 mil this year)

Cutler: 7 yr/100 mil (14.29 mil avg so Cutler gets a nice pay raise, but it’s not crazy high for the Bears so win-win; plus it's a 100 mil contract so it "looks" good on paper/with the media/etc)

What you guys think?

Apparently the driving conditions are horrible in Chicago today. Haugh may not have been the only one late.

Anyway -- Emery promising the draft will be focused on defense.

I'm guessing Cutler's going to make $15-16m.

I'm not surprised he named Shea, but I am surprised he called out a guy by name who has not been a part of this team for quite a while now, in Hardin.

I almost wonder if he meant Conte...."converted from safety"...

Haugh was filling in on the Score this morning until 8:30.

Yeah, he totally bombed him. Lol, cut the kid some slack, Phil.

SETTING UP A CHANGE IN SCHEME?

I thought the same thing there for a min.

Possibly a move to a 3-4?

That's where I thought for a min that he was going. But it never got to that.

Moved on to special teams now.
