It's weird, but it's always a bit of a shock to me to see a player who I've always thought was white be black, based only on name. C.J. Edwards, Donald Veal, Chris Archer, etc. There's so few African American players out there that it's always a "Oh wow" moment when you finally see a picture of a player who you've only tracked the numbers of.

Could the played out Poor Tom Ricketts jokes at least make sense if we're going to make them?

It's not a played out joke at all. Comedy is used to mask tragedy. Now they are feeding fans a line of [expletive] that a person would have to be a complete idiot to believe. They are using imaginary dollars to claim they start each season in a 40 million dollar hole. The Tribune company fielded some high dollar teams and still managed to make a huge profit. The Ricketts have turned themselves into pretzels either intentionally or accidentally in order to not fund this team like they should.

 

Theo's quote about homegrown talent is all fine and dandy but as you showed almost half of the WAR came from free agents and castoffs. They cannot build a championship caliber without paying a good to great player too much. It's really beyond frustrating.

I knew when we rumored to be acquiring him and a Google search brought up an image return. When I'm looking up stats I bookmark FG and B-R so I bypass Google, so I don't get image results.

 

I can only imagine what people thought about Juan Pierre before they saw him for the first time.

The team has no alternative but to rehab Castro's image-either to use him long-term or flip him. But his problem has been short attention span theatre and lack of concentration. I don't know how you change that by lifting weights. Was the trouble compounded by getting mixed messages from Sveum and anybody else?
