I still enjoy Crow's trashy sister freaking out on the CBC feed when they took the lead. Or maybe it's his girl, I don't know.

she looks like Bolland but i guess it's Crow's gf.

Outclassed tonight. Edwards is being way too complimentary of the Hawks tonight. Aside from Saad, and then Sharp and Hossa in flashes, we haven't done [expletive].

There's never a bad time for this:

Boston is unstoppable right now, looking forward to the game tonight.

it's been almost a year now, and i can honestly say that's my favorite sports-watching moment ever. stuff like paxson and jordan on byron russell maybe would be better, but i was so young and spoiled by the bulls that it didn't have the same element of disbelief that this had.

if the cubs had won in 2003, wood's game 7 home run would top all of this.

One of my colleagues is a Pens fan. He mentioned that, at this time last year it was the Pens that were beating everybody and getting picked to win the cup. As a result, he's more philosophical about their recent "struggles". They're in the same boat as the Hawks in some ways. Their playoff position is more or less set. They are missing a star player and their secondary scoirng has dried up a little bit.

For the Bruins to win the cup, they'll need to play as well as they are playing now for 3 staright months. That's hard to do if those months are in the Spring.

I'm surrounded by Pens fans, and I was pretty sure they were awarded the Stanley Cup last March by listening to them assholes.

The Pens fans here are starting to wonder if they're going to go the way of the Atalnata Braves: always good but only one championship.

I think the Hawks are just gassed. Packed schedule post-lockout + deep Cup run + half the team playing in the Olympics this year.

They could surprise me, but the West is just too good this year to expect much out of them in the playoffs.

I don't agree with that. They're as good as any team in the West. I'm not expecting a repeat Cup, but I'd be surprised and disappointed if they aren't in the West Finals or take the team that beats them to get to the West Finals to a very tough 6-7 games.

If they get past Colorado, watch out. I still think they match up very well with St. Louis and Anaheim. And everyone else in the West they should basically slaughter in a 7 game series. If they make the Final, I don't see them losing, either.

So, basically, if they make the WCF, I think they win it all.

this has turned into a pretty disappointing season.

I'll gladly trade your 99 point (to date) season for my 80 point (and doomed to miss the playoffs by a point again) season

what does that have to do with anything? they aren't having a bad season. just a disappointing one based on their roster and expectations.

also, boston played as deep as us last year and they look pretty good.

I think this is being said, but it is really hard to win the Cup back to back years. Not only the physical toll that it takes, but similar to baseball, NHL playoffs have a lot of variables that make odd things happen. Best bet is to just be in position to be good in the playoffs every year. For all the talk about how great the Wings were for 20 yrs, they only won 4 Cups. They also lost in the 1st round at least 4 times. I think the Hawks are probably one of 6 or 7 teams with a real legit chance, anyone else it would take a huge amount of breaks happening.

I guess I am just saying the Hawks are fine. I like their chances of winning the Cup more than anyone else.

Teams that have a chance in the West:

The Blues but will they be able to score enough to win 4 playoff series?

The Sharks but they have a history of choking.

The Ducks but they have already begun their annual late season collapse

Teams in the East that have a chance:

The Bruins but can they play this level of hockey for 3 months?

The Pens 'cause Crosby and Malkin

Then there's the Hawks. Biggest concern right now is that Q is leaning pretty heavily on Toews with Kane out (he logged 24+ minutes the other night) and Hossa (had over 20 minutes in a non OT game). Another concern is will they get the secondary scoring they need. It will be hard for Bickell to replicate what he did last year. Bollig will be playing more and he provides nothing offensively unless the other team completely disregards his presence- which could happen maybe once a series.
