Darvill with a HR lol

Wes Darvill has 6 pro HRs and has been in the Cubs system since 2009. Don't get *too* excited by AFL offensive stats.

@billazbbphotog: 1st #AFL at bat for Wes Darville - 420 foot HR to RF

Soler, Bryant and Almora combined for 2 HR and 9 RBI in Fall League action today...not bad..still think Bryant good enough for 2014 Cubs

I honestly think I'd take the opinion of anyone on this site(even them) over anything baseball related from Jesse Rogers.

Why was Darvil even sent to the AFL with his numbers? Is he a defensive wiz or something?

Nah, just a guy that has filled out finally and they probably want to test him to see if he can handle AA. Always considered raw, guess its possible he could find a utility role in the majors at some point.

Jesse Rogers should stick to subjects he knows something about.

i'm lowest on Almora because of injury concerns

Me too.

1. Baez

2. Bryant

3. Soler

4. Almora

After seeing Almora in person, he really has such good balance at the plate like he can hit any pitch hatd.

Ha, my buddy overheard Theo talking to Carrie Muskat

"Maybe we should have invited Girardi to this game"

gross I hope that isn't true

Yeah, what an idiot, being all happy knowing that our top prospects are going to be awesome major leaguers. Makes me wanna puke, what with his confidence that we'll have a better future than the stinking Yankees. Bring back MacPhail/Hendry, they are true pros.

What are realistic currently active player comps for these guys' careers? Here's an attempt at that with low end, medium end/likely, and high end comps.

Baez: Low: Hanley Ramirez Medium: Tulo High: A-Rod

Bryant: Low: Longoria Medium: Beltre High: Cabrera

Soler: Low: Werth Medium: Holliday High: Beltran

Almora: Low: Ellsbury Medium: McCutchen High: Trout

Ohhhh yeah

Jesse really improved over the course of the season - I give him credit for learning.

I see Bryant as more of a Mike Schmidt type.

He was also the last minute replacement for Baez at SS. I guess they could have sent Hernandez instead, but he looked overmatched at Kane County.

Cubs prospect Kris Bryant is 5-for-9 with five RBI through two games in the Arizona Fall League.

The young third baseman posts big offensive numbers wherever he goes. Bryant, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft, hit .336/.390/.688 with nine home runs and 32 RBI this summer in his first 36 minor league games. Now he's killing it against some of the best prospects in baseball. The kid will be a monster one day.

Well someone at Rotoworld sure likes Bryant.

Non-steroid user/affliction shirt wearer Ryan Braun is what I'm hoping he becomes

Logan Watkins seemed like the best candidate to replace Baez.

Couldn't they have sent Alcantara? He seems like a logical choice for the league and a Baez replacement.

I think they wanted a utility guy since they moved Almora off the taxi squad (Wednesday and Saturday games only). Alcantara should get more frequent at bats with Licey.

Arismendy also played his career high in games this season, and participated in the Future's Game over the ASB. He might still play in the Dominican Winter League.

I'm not ready to write off Almora because of injuries. The broken hamate bone was a freak thing and can't happen again. If the groin issues persist then I'm willing to start being skeptical.

I'm not writing him off, I'm ranking him below other talented prospects.

I meant writing him off as injury-prone.

Sorry, didn't meant to ignore this yesterday.

I'm not calling Almora injury prone, just saying the multiple injuries make it easier to rank him below the other three. The lower ceiling/not having as many elite tools as the other three is the main reason he's behind Soler for me.

Yeah, Alcantara is on Licey's roster in the DWL. Of course they have Jurickson Profar on their roster so playing time might be tough to come by.

Why would that matter? Isn't Profar a SS and Alcantara pretty much slotted for 2B?
