The classics never stop being classic.

You could go JR Towles or NSBBlol for Meph and be good too.

It has been about 2 1/2 years since the last one, but I guess some posters like to live in the past.

John Arguello ‏@CubsDen 2m

Called this two weeks ago RT @CubsDen Hearing that if Olt can make the throws from 3B, he's going to get the job.

REALLY GUY?

Yeah, I saw that. Pretty f'in narcissistic to congratulate yourself on calling something that could be reasonably assumed by pretty much everyone.

Not even close to the first time he's done it either. People make fun of it all the time (which is why I brought it up).

yep. i called this 2 years ago.

I was thinking it was about the time the ink was dry on the deal...The only thing (other than his own health) that could have derailed Olt was if Bryant was 100% ready offensively and defensibly this spring.

I think the FO would be more happy if Olt claimed third, and they could move Bryant to a corner OF spot.

That also would free up Villanueva for a trade chip.

And pushing Baez to 3rd and Alcantara as trade bait. We're gonna have a few really good near ready prospects to trade this offseason. Or maybe they can be add-ons for a bigger deal mid season.

Rusin is officially cut.

That makes our 2014 Opening Day Roster

Lake/Sweeney/Schierholtz (Ruggiano, Kalish)

Olt/Castro/Barney/Rizzo (Bonifacio, Valbuena)

Castillo (Baker)

Samardzija/Wood/Jackson/Hammel/Villanueva (ability order, not order we're using them to start year)

Veras/Strop/Rondon/Grimm/Cabrera/Russell/Wright

DL: Fujikawa, Arrieta

Everything about this roster is just unrelentingly bad and I guess you never know about bullpens, except the infield has some nice offensive potential. The 13 position players accumulated 12.3 fWAR total in the majors last year, less than one per player.

I'm happy for you, Kyle. At long last, you have a finalized roster with which to be disgusted.

Kyle's been dying to make that post for awhile now.

I'm dying to make a post about how awesome it is that this team won 82 games and 20 of those 25 players had surprisingly good years and apparently it all works.

All things considered... the roster doesn't bother me. For starters, I know it's not gonna be great so right off the bat I'm not surprised. Two, there's actually a lot of players on this roster I'm excited to see develop. At the very least it'll be intriguing just to watch these guys progress. There wasn't a lot of that last year and all our "good" players were guys we were waiting to ship off for more prospects. Throw in the call ups of Baez and others later in the season and it makes this team a lot more interesting than last year's despite having, on paper, a worse opening day roster.

Not saying much at all but I felt like I was looking at a 90 win team in Kyle's post after I just read that Altuve is hitting cleanup for the Astros and followed that up with looking at their roster.

Yeah. I don't think their fans realize how long it's gonna take to turn that turd sandwich around, prospects or no prospects.

Your face is unrelentingly bad.

Please tell me Kyle's little picture avatar thing is his face.

No guys don't worry I'm not actually unrelentingly negative.

Schlitter making the team is a surprise.

I agree about Parker. He's got to be saying "WTF" again.
