I wonder how well his defense would hold up at 2B. He's supposed to be a terrific defender, but I'm not sure if he's got quick enough feet.

Thought I read before he could possibly handle 2B. He's not huge to the point that he's inflexible. But he's also not a former SS, so it could be completely foreign to him. I think he does compare some to Edgardo Alfonzo who made the move from 3B to 2B. But he's still behind Alcantara there, LOL.

Alfonzo is an interesting comparison for him. In terms of his Cub future, the ability to play some 2B would at least make it much more likely that he can crack the MLB roster.

Skulina got tagged again, Zastryzny with 3 straight groundouts to start his Kane County debut.

There was a lot of talk of him possibly moving there when he was in the Rangers' system.

It'll be interesting to see where Bryant and Candelario start next year at. More likely scenario: Bryant in KC, Candelario in Daytona or the opposite? Or possibly Bryant in Tennessee and Candelario in Daytona?

Not sure. Candelario has done plenty to start next year in Daytona, and I don't think they'd want them splitting time at 3B/DH and getting half the reps they should be.

I think Candelario deserves it as well, making me wonder if Tennessee isn't a legit option for Bryant.

Bryant: 2-3, 2B so far

Candelario: 2-3, 2 BB, R, RBI

Villanueva: 3-5, 2 2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, K

Olt: 1-4, 2B, K so far

Not a bad day to be a 3B in the Cubs system.

Somewhere Josh Vitters is weeping.

Daytona is the lowest possible level I see Bryant starting at next year...I really don't think Tennessee is an outrageous possibility.

We also don't know how the Cubs brass views Candelario at 3B. They obviously have every intention of keeping Bryant there, but for all we know they could just stick Candelario in LF.

i thought i had read that people were more optimistic about candelario at 3b after seeing him this year. i wouldn't be too thrilled about moving him from 3b to the lowest position on the defensive spectrum (outside of maybe 1b), at least this early in his career. if someone ends up having to move to corner OF due to 3b being nailed down by baez or olt or whoever, it would probably be bryant, since we already know that he has plenty of power to play LF or RF.

too bad one of them can't play catcher. for as loaded as our system is with offensive prospects, our catching prospects are [expletive] pathetic. and our starting major league catcher has as many home runs as travis wood.
