Hoyer mentioned adding catchers as a huge priority at this point. I could see both a HS and college C drafted early next year, to go with pitching.

and our starting major league catcher has as many home runs as travis wood.

And the 5th highest WAR in baseball among catchers.

He's probably going by Baseball-Reference. Their calculations often conflict with Fangraphs for WAR. BR has him at 3.1

i'm going to lean toward the site that doesn't have him as the 7th most valuable defender in all of baseball, regardless of position. that does not pass the eye test.

A lot of great stuff going on on the farm, but I really hope Almora's back soon. I know they said they expect him back after th minimum DL stint, but Soler wasn't supposed to need a DL stint.

And I know it's a SSS and all, but hasn't Bryant done a good enough job of chewing up, spitting out, and flushing the kiddie league? Any chance he sees KC by the end of the season?

He had/has a stress fracture in his leg, I'm pretty sure that always leads to a DL stay.

When he initially started sitting out games, the Cubs thought he'd avoid a DL stint. Once it was diagnosed, obviously there was no avoiding it.
