Do the Cubs even have another C on the 40 man?

not sure about the rules for injured players, but can't they just release neal (or 60 day DL him if the injury is severe), call up sappelt (already on the 40 man) and then either call up one of iowa's crappy catchers or trade nothing for some mediocre veteran from another organization?

Navarro's knee has to be jacked. Tough to watch him being carted off. Edited by Elwood

According to the Cubs website, no.

Do they have Koyie Hill stuffed in a locker somewhere just in case of a situation like this?

Dear God, don't even joke about that

actually he's playing for the marlins' AAA club and i'm sure they'd just give him away to give him a chance to play in the majors and earn a little more cash for 2 months. i suspect this will be the route the cubs go (trading air for a mediocre vet stuck in AAA) rather than calling up boscan or flores.

Neal with a dislocated right shoulder.

Ramirez missed 50 games with his dislocated shoulder in '09. Ryan Ludwick has already missed over 100 games this year with one. Inge missed something crazy like 3 weeks last year, came back and immediately dislocated it again. If they don't have anything conclusive on Navarro by tomorrow, I imagine Neal heads to the 60 day.

Is there a pitch location the umpires miss more frequently than the low strike (especially when it comes to curves and sliders)?

It's the outside strike to lefties they all call incorrectly, isn't it?

Unbelievable. What the [expletive] are you doing, Ransom?

So for this inning we've had this and DeJesus swinging at a 3-1 pitch nowhere near the zone when it was clear the pitcher couldn't throw strikes.

If bad baserunning got Borbon the DFA then Sveum's gritty friend should be gone tomorrow as well. I think he was also picked off second to end an inning earlier this year.

He should be DFA'd, right?

Should be, if it was Castro at least Sveum would threaten to send him to the minors.
