Love that AA is at the point where a 1-2 night with a 3 RBI double & a BB is ho-hum.

FYI, we have two AA's. That is not a good abbreviation for either of them.

It's been established AA is Alcantara.

I'm sure in no time Dale will have dumb [expletive] nicknames for both of them like Alby or Mory for Almora and like Misy, Mendy or Canty for Alcantara then it will all be cleared up.

Given the Front Office's insistence on 500 PAs at AAA, I'd say next to zero odds. Especially for a guy like Alcantara, who for all his success could still use some refinement in his game.

I still think that is being overstated and was more just some stuff they said in the media as an excuse for waiting to get Rizzo's clock pushed back.

It could be an exaggeration, but I do think you'll see most every prospect get a decent sampling of at bats at AAA. In almost any interpretation though(literal, exaggerated, ruse to avoid service time shenanigans) the result is that Alcantara won't be skipping iowa.

This may be a different conversation altogether, but I was discussing this with a friend the other day. Given how the current focus for every major league is taking advantage of those cost controlled years when the player first enters the major leagues, couldn't it be seen as an advantage to have those cost controlled years be from ages 23-28 rather than ages 21-26? The obvious counterpoint is that it pushes back the time spent adjusting to the speed/skill/etc of major league baseball, but there are some benefits to having a player locked down for cheap while he's at his physical (and historically skill-level) peak.

The conversation with my friend ended with me wondering if that's playing into the "one level at a time" strategy that Theo/Jed are seemingly employing.

Agreed, I could see Alcantara getting called up pretty soon to Iowa and getting a last monthish in and then starting there next year and if everything goes well with his development him coming up around the ASB next year. But that's probably best/fastest case scenario.

It's been established that AA is a stupid [expletive] nickname for either of them.

It's not a nickname, it's a way to not type Arismendy Alcantara.

oic. y u no type tuip as s/n? a/s/l? omg lol

Or just type Alcantara. It takes less than a second, and doesn't use the "must abbreviate everything!" thought process of a thirteen year old girl.
