He's hitting for unreal power and probably shouldn't even be in AA. He can K as much as wants for now.

With some BABIP, his slash line would be pretty sexy. The K's are a problem, but AA does that to guys his age in first exposure.

Yeah. Plus Javy now has sort of a history of K'ing at absurdly high rates to begin each level and then getting it together.

IIRC he did it at Peoria and Daytona too.

Besides MAYBE Buxton, I wouldn't trade Javy for any prospect in the game. The skillset is just too rare. Some people say he has a high bust possibility, but even if other aspects of his game never fully develop it feels like his floor is a good defensive corner infielder who's going to belt ~25 mistake pitches out of the park a year. He's only 20 years old, what's his power grade going to be at 24?

I think a reasonable expectation for him could be Carlos Gomez at the plate, maybe a little more power and less SB. Obviously he could reach a much higher ceiling but I think that's a safe bet for what he could become.

Lost in all the shiny new fun stuff, Dae-Eun Rhee had himself a pretty solid outing. I'd be pretty curious how he was looking these days. 2 years ago, it felt like Rhee was potentially breaking through, then the stuff, iirc, regressed a bit last year. Then, he got hurt early this year.

Didn't he have TJS?

Apparently Bryant has hit 2 warning track flies in addition to his ground rule double.

Third day in a row with no Dunston at Boise. Hmmmmmm

He got hurt in an outfield collision a few games ago. It supposedly wasn't too serious and he was only supposed to sit one game out, though.

That was, uh, 3 years ago? Or was it 4?

Baez with an OPS > .800 while batting .219

Not bad.

Wow, Candelario already has his own baaeball academy in the Dominican, with the goal of having every kid 6-16 playing baseball. Thats [expletive] awesome.

Isn't the Southern League favorable to pitchers and not hitters? I'm kinda new to following the minor leagues.

Yes it is.

Why is that? Big ballparks? The weather favor pitchers? Or it's just normal for pitchers to be ahead of hitters at that level?

Yes to the first two, no to the latter. The Texas League is a big hitters league in AA.
