who is better between abty and marlin bystro? abty says it was olt with the medical issue, marlin says it was garza.

Marlin is the best. That's pretty bad news, but the delay makes more sense now.

In recent months, TY and ICG have had more info and it's been pretty on spot.

That's also the opposite of what everyone involved(from either city) is reporting, so, lest I slit my wrists with occam's razor, it's unlikely to me that not only are all the other sources wrong(abty, Arguello/Loxas, TR Sullivan, etc), but they're wrong in the opposite direction.

Interesting. I didn't realize it was being corroborated by a bunch of other sources.

There's been some disagreement on whether it was a Texas pitcher or hitter that had the injury hangup(abty thinks Olt, Arguello/Loxas think a pitcher), but yeah, it seemed pretty widely accepted that it was a Ranger prospect's health that nixed it.

Isn't the goal of most trades to get the best play(s)/prospect(s) possible, even if your organization has a player(s) at that position? Prospects acquired this year for Garza may prove to be centerpieces in future deals if they're not destined to stay in the Cubs' org. Also, this year's top prospects (especially in AA and below) * aren't always next year's top prospect. Look at guys like Olt, Maples and Jackson.

*typo - should have originally stated "aren't next year's top prospects".

Reports are that we have no shortage of potential trade partners for Garza. If there were any health concern, I'm sure their intel is superior to that of Marlin.

If it did have to do with Garza's health, it's probably not so much a new health issue so much as concern regarding his past injury preventing them from meeting the admins price; or at least using that argument to lower the price. Not that it's not a legit concern if Theo's demanding some of their top prospects. Theo refusing to lower the price.

Glasnow's been the pitching guy most thrown around in the mock offers i've seen. Maybe Polanco or Hanson (i'd prefer Polanco), Glasnow, + another for Garza and Schierholtz?

Nick Kingham seems like a solid arm as well.

Manager Dale Sveum said it appears 100 percent that Matt Garza pitches for the Cubs Monday night.

McPherson, Wilson, and Kingham for Garza, add Polanco and Schierholtz if they want an outfielder too. If Taillon were available, maybe Garza & Schierholtz for Taillon and Pimentel?

EDIT: Didn't realize McPherson had TJS 2 weeks ago, that changes things.

Theo and Jed will not cave. They'll keep Garza if teams start offering Silver(other teams) for Gold (us) deals.

No, they won't. That would be dumb. Any of these deals would be better than the comp pick.

Yes, they will and they'll resign him.

You sure don't think much of Jed and Theo.

I would bet anything that Garza is not a Cub next year, unless he blows out his arm and takes a deal along the lines that Dempster did when first signing with the Cubs.
