How close is Albert to a promotion?

Wouldn't be surprised if it's soon and when he gets moved to Daytona Soler gets moved to Tenn

Javy not ready yet?

I think even with his recent marked improvements they are going to want to see him do it for a slightly longer period of time to sustain it. Also I'm guessing they may want to give Alcantara more time at Tenn before moving him to Iowa and doubt they want both Baez and Alcantara at the same level. I bet they will try to keep those two 1 level separated for the time being to keep them both at SS. Not that Alcantara should delay/inhibit Baez's progression or advancement but it's a thought.

Almora is hitting .430 in 86 plate appearances. That's really, really hard to do.

For perspective, if he goes 0 for his next 15, he'll still be hitting .362/.396/.500/.896

Yes it is, his swing reminds me a lot of A-Rod's. Not saying I expect him to be the hitter A-Rod was.

Almora:

Specifically go to the first Almora video and about the 16 sec mark of the first A-Rod video

Putting up a near .500 average with his overall peripherals is hard to do. When do you suggest he gets called up? Because he's clearly bored with these pitchers.

Late July/early August (I'm assuming he won't continue to hit .400+).

You don't promote a guy just because he has a crazy 2 or 3 week stretch (Unless you're Jim Hendry/Oneri Fleita).

I could see him getting sent to Daytona in about a month if he continues to make the league look like child's play.

How long was Javy in Peoria? I imagine that's the same timetable Albert is looking at.

57 games, 235 PA. Almora is about 1/3 of the way to those numbers.

Jae-Hoon Ha and Justin Bour are rehabbing, Starling Peralta threw for the first time in a live game since being demoted for Daytona and Alexander Santana dominated:

All of the Cubs pitchers who threw today looked good, but most-especially 19-year old Dominican RHP Alexander Santana, who hurled 4.1 IP of one-hit shutout ball with seven strikeouts. He did walk a batter and uncorked two WP, but he also threw 79% strikes with a 5/1 GO/FO. Santana features a 93 MPH heater, a hard slider, and a change-up, and will join Erick Leal, Daury Torrez, and Carlos Rodriguez in the AZL Cubs starting rotation, which actually could be better than the starting staff in Boise (what with Ryan McNeil and Josh Conway lost for the season with elbow injuries).

Santana got a low 6 figure bonus in 2010, Rodriguez got $120,000 in 2011, Leal was the big name in the Campana trade and Torrez was the only Cub prospect to make BA's top 20 DSL prospects list in 2012.

I guess so. I suppose I'm looking at it differently since it's just been a complete and total beat-down of pitching at this level. It's not like he started off so-so and then turned it up. He's been lights out since his first AB. But you're probably right - 87 PA is still a SSS.

I gotta imagine Anthony Prieto will start too. He was a higher pick last yr outta HS IIRC.
