I never understood why people liked the Jackson signing. He's a sub .500 pitcher and throw fastballs down the middle.

 

Because the first part is meaningless and the second part is OK because his fastball is really good.

So good he's off to a 0-4 start with a mid 6 ERA.

Probably because win/loss is irrelevant, he's been really good the last 3 years, and you're awful

I have never liked Jackson very much, but I realize that he does provide value in his durability. With that said, he certainly isn't going to make or break the Cubs' future. By the time they are ready to compete, he will be nearing the end of his contract. Best case scenario, he is pitching well in a few years and becomes a good value piece that can either be held onto or dealt. Worst case scenario, he just won't be re-signed and will free up some money to sign someone else in 4 years.

Every once in a while Starlin will show that there is a lot of power in there. He hit that a long ways on an off balance swing and did that a couple times last year. I think he's got 20+ bombs in him this season.
