Hawks looked awful in losing Game 1 to Nashville in the Cup year and also lost game 3 and won the series. Hawks got completely dominated in Game 1 at home against Vancouver the next series and then won 4 of the next 5 games. While you don't want to give up home ice, I am not too worried overall because I know the Hawks are a much better team than they've shown.

Excuses for the loss:

-Odd schedule (2 games in 9 days)

-Afternoon game

-Q out coached

-Red Wings desperate after getting dominated on Wednesday

Don't get me wrong, there's no way Detroit wins both of the next two home games. An effort this shitty does make me wonder though.

Carcillo could make himself most useful but taking someone out. I don't care if he gets suspended.

I assumed you meant getting suspended was how he could make himself useful.

so you seem eager to suspend players more for revenge than player safety I take it:)

getting knocked out of the playoffs by detroit would be...... not good

I still think The Hawks win in 6. I am just a little glad that some Hawks fans are going to have to eat a little bit of crow after the talking they were doing after game 1(not really here but some other places) Truth is that in 6 games this season the Hawks were far superior in 2. 3 games were about even and now the Wings have been superior in 1. This has not been as one sided as some Hawks fans think.

Whatever it takes.

Only joking of course don't want anyone hurt. But dammit Carcillo is useless.

I don't blame Hawks fans for getting a little cocky after game 1. They really looked good. But anyone who expected the Hawks to just sweep Detroit is probably a bandwagoner that hasn't followed Detroit over the last 15 years. They have depth issues and aren't as collectively talented as years past but they have great coaching for the lost part and a lot of top end talent. They are a tough out.

i think it was also wishful thinking. given the long, long, long history of the wings dominance over the hawks. it would have been a cathartic end to the rivalry to destroy them in four games

the hawks respond well to losses, so i think we'll see a very different team this next game

Q says Stalberg most likely playing tonight...

Who is sitting out? Better be either Carcillo or Handzus. Both are worthless.

Probably Carcillo. I think they said on the score that Handzus is centering the 4th line tonight.

I guess that means Bolland is back centering the second line? I know I've said it before, and I know the ship has almost definitely sailed, but the second/third lines look so much better to me with Sharp handling the face-offs on the second line and Shaw playing the center position there, and then Bolland going between Bickell and Stalberg. Sharp/Bolland/Kane just never really clicked, and Kane pretty much had to carry that line all season. Can't afford that now.

This is 100% what should happen. By far the best option.

Detroit isn't the point. It's really hard to sweep a Stanley Cup Playoff series. Anyone expecting a sweep started watching hockey around 4 days ago.

per dobbs, line combs in practice:

Brandon Saad – Jonathan Toews – Marian Hossa

Patrick Sharp – Dave Bolland – Patrick Kane

Bryan Bickell – Andrew Shaw – Viktor Stalberg

Daniel Carcillo – Marcus Kruger – Michael Frolik

hmm, guess what i heard on the score was just speculation then. I don't mind Handzus sitting at all.
