Holy crap what a bad turn of events. What happened?

Nashville decided to become really good at hockey. Hawks couldn't get to any loose pucks, Craw giving up rebounds, etc.

Wow this is tough to watch. havent seen the Hawks get dominated this badly since maybe the Calgary game back in January.

Crawford scares me. I think Emery looks like the best option at this point

Those weren't good goals, but Emery is much, much slower laterally. Good teams will exploit that. Crawford is just better than Emery.

What is it about Chicago that we question our QB's and goalies?

But like I said earlier, it seems Crawford gives up a lot of those dumb goals. I think it probably balances it out in the end.

Before the Handzus trade, I had managed to completely forget about Morrison. Oh well.

I believe this will be the only trade. There are too many teams that still think they have a chance which means no one is selling except the Avs and Flames. But it's ok since rosters expand Thursday so the good news is that they'll be able to put Pirri in one of the open center spots if Bolland's injury is bad.

On the down side, if you were looking at Bollig being sent back to Rock Vegas as the silver lining in the Handzus trade, they'll probably bring him back as soon as the rosters expand.

The Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned forwards Jeremy Morin and Jimmy Hayes to the Rockford IceHogs. of the American Hockey League.

With the arrival of Michal Handzus following Monday's trade with the Sharks and the impending returns of Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa from injuries, Morin and Hayes lost their roster spots.

Until Thursday when rosters expand or the rest of Rockford's season- whichever seems in their best interest.

Van gets Roy, we get Handzus. That Opooya deal turning out swell.

2nd & 3rd wasted on that piece of [expletive], when one of those picks could've went for Roy.

Roy is a clear upgrade at #2 center but whatever. What else is new with this ass hat as GM.

Yeah, he's clearly done a terrible job of assembling the best team in the league. What a jerk.

Obviously Roy would have been a better move than Handzus.

I've had my complaints about Oduya in the past and may well again come playoff time but he was very good the first part of this year.

Stan gets some leeway from me right now, even with the questionable Handzus deal.

If this is all Stan does, I will be disappointed.

i don't really understand this. the ability of the blackhawks to improve via trade is incredibly limited. our best opportunity is to improve at the margins rather than try to fill some large perceived need. yes, the organization can stand to improve at C, but the most efficient/least disruptive path to that is to develop organizationally and make any marginal upgrades when they present themselves (a la handzus) in the meantime. if not, oh well, we still have one of the top-3 teams (if not the best) in the league

I dislike Handzus as a player, always have. Was probably a bit irrational yesterday.

Like I said, Bowman deserves a lot of credit for building well around the core of this team.

Not sure what Oduya has to do with not getting Roy. The Hawks could have offered prospects over picks and won the bid had they wanted to.

It seems like they're thinking that they can win the cup with what they have but they'll have some tough decisions to make after the season. They probably believe that Bolland will be a lot better in the post season since he always has been before. That probably means that he's gone though since the Hawks won't be able to pay him and keep Leddy and keep Stals and Bickell.

maybe a dumb question, but what does Pirri project as, long-term? Is he a 2nd line center in a couple years? Or is he more like Kruger and Shaw and should be a 3rd/4th line guy ideally?

I don't think they rate Pirri. Danault is the guy they have their eyes on as 2C.

gotcha, thanks for the info!

Acquire Handzus. Tell fan base that the best deadline acquisition is getting Sharpe and Hossa healthy. So I hate to tell you guys but this sounds exactly like the Wings. Robert Lang is the only Top 6 forward I ever remember the Wings getting at the deadline. I wish I could forget that they acquired him

Honestly, unless they can get a really awesome 2C, there isn't much need for an upgrade other than more faceoff wins. Particularly given Hayes and Morin waiting in the wings -- who I like more than Carcillo and Mayers in any event.

There's also McNeil who might slot in at 2C but more likely 3C and Kevin Hayes who might leave BC. Which means that it will be tough for Pirri to stick with the Hawks long term.
