So here is some fun with numbers... with 4 more wins (and one point dropped by St. Louis), the Blackhawks clinch the Central Division.

Blackhawks: 58 points with 12 games remaining (24 possible points). They can get 82 points, maximum.

Maximum possible points for each team in the division:

Detroit -- 63 (41 points with 11 games left)

St. Louis -- 66 (40 points with 13 games left)

Columbus -- 61 (39 points with 11 games left)

*Nashville -- 58 (38 points with 10 games left)

In terms of just clinching a playoff spot, the Hawks can clinch with two wins this weekend:

#9 Edmonton -- 61 (39 points with 11 games left)

#10 Columbus -- 61 (39 points with 11 games left)

#11 Phoenix -- 60 (38 points with 11 games left)

*#12 Nashville -- 58 (38 points with 10 games left)

#13 Dallas -- 59 (35 points with 12 games left)

**#14 Calgary -- 56 (30 points with 13 games left)

**#15 Colorado -- 52 (28 points with 12 games left)

*Tied,is eliminated against the Hawks with OT or loss Saturday or Sunday.

**Cannot catch the Hawks

Plus, with the Western Conference teams only playing each other this year, teams are always dropping points against their maximum against the Hawks.

Handzus didn't look out of place, speed wise. Not that he's fast but he's not Brunnette out there either. He certainly delivered at the dot - 10-3 by my count.

Never put Frolik on Kane's line again, please. It's funny how quickly he reverted to gain the zone and shoot mode. Bring Morin back until Sharp is ready.

Evidently Montador cleared waivers. I'd like to see him brought up to rest Oduya and Seabrook before the playoffs. Roszival too for that matter. Not sure of the cap ramifications but I thought the Hawks had room anyway. At the very least he could at least prove that he's recovered from injury and maybe get traded somewhere. Failing that, he might realize that it's either back to the Rock or retirement. Not sure which is worse.

Forgot they were playing this afternoon. Emery is playing well since I turned on the game last few minutes.

I'll never understand the guy who thinks it's a good idea to propose to his girlfriend during a sporting event.

Boyle just said Hawks are four points from a playoff spot. Wow.

Look above... I posted that very thing earlier this week. :-)

Looks like people can stop talking about the Hawks giving up leads in the 3rd period at least for one game. Very good defensive 3rd period.

Emery is awesome:

@ChrisKuc: #Blackhawks goaltender Ray Emery on the Predators: "That’s a team you have to really play some boring hockey against."

Do we have a goalie controversy? Not that Crow has played badly, I just think that Emery has really been playing some great goaltending.

I don't know. Crow was playing really well until more recently. I'm not sure what happened. Right now I'd like to see more Emery, but maybe Q waits until the playoffs and then goes with the hot hand.
