This is why I don't like when there's an emphasis on Kane scoring more goals. When you can do [expletive] like that, play your game.

This team already reminds me of the Cup team. Huge shot and time of possession margins. And silly highlight reel goals.

hossa always has the best celebrations when he scores huge goals. love that guy so much

Go watch Yakupov's game-typing goal last night for Edmonton. Now that's a celebration.

But yeah Hoss rules.

Tonight there was a good SOG margin but overall it's actually only been ok.

Tonight: Hawks 41 Stars 23

STL: Blues 34 Hawks 27

PHX: Hawks 31 Coyotes 29

LA: Hawks 22 Kings 21

Interesting I guess other than the St. Louis game it just didn't seem like our keepers have been stressed all that much.

not all SOG are created equal. The Hawks had a lot of quality chances last night. It was very satisfying to see Toews and Hossa both score after being robbed 3-4 times each.

Dallas is really awful on the dot, that helped a lot regarding SOG since they spent less time chasing.

I really like what Saad has been doing. The Toews, Hossa, Saad line is a really good 2 way line and creates some nightmare matchups.

Roszival hasn't looked as good as his debut. I wonder if Brookbank will get the start against the BJs. Roszival should get the bulk of the PT but his age and the short turnaround might mean that we see more of Brookbank than we want to. admittedly, it's a small sample re Brookbank.

I haven't minded Rozsival all that much. I mean when comparing him to other sixth defensemen. He's definitely a step up over Nick Boynton, Jordan Hendry or Dylan Olsen.

I like the way this back-to-back sets up this weekend. Take care of business on Saturday at Columbus, and then they shouldn't have a problem getting amped up to play Detroit at home.

Try to sneak in an Emery start on Saturday night?

Play Emery against Detroit...I think Columbus may currently be better.

Fair enough on Roszival.

I'd rather play Emery Sat vs Columbus. The BJs have snuck up on the teams that they've played so far. In the long run, Det is more of a threat for the division. Some day Det really will be too old, too slow, etc. but they always seem to find a way to be a factor.

It is actually not old and slow that is killing the Wings. It is poor play from defensemen. They are really not playing any particularly old players right now. Though I think Bertuzzi will be back tonight to change that and Franzen plays like he is 38. They do have a lot of players in their early 30s though. Now that I think about it Cleary and Samuelsson are about 35. But they lost Lidstrom and Stuart and basically replaced them with Brendon Smith and Colavacheo(sp). I think Smith will be a solid NHL defenseman but is still young. Colavacheo got hurt which helped lead to the signing of Kirk Haskins. Ericsson and Kindle should return soon to help, but they are not Lidstrom or Stuart either.
