How have the Titans won games this year? Jake Locker is terrible. Sorry, dew.

His development was stunted a bit by an injury that knocked him out for several games, but yeah, he's about where I expected him to be - which isn't good.

I'm actually pretty happy about the game today. We kept from losing draft positioning and with as awful as we looked, Munchak has to be that much closer to being fired. I hate to see us lose, but this is good for the organization overall I think.

I'm in a pool where we pick every game of the season against the spread. I went an unbelievable 15-1 this week. Still in shock. It's too bad I didn't bet with a bookie. Could have made some serious money.

Isn't Russell Wilson like 5-9? How can he be this good?

i dunno, but i've always been a big fan of him. nc state had mediocre talent and he led them to some very solid years. just seems like a talented guy who makes smart decisions and can create a little with his legs.

Nah. Look at the bright side. Good thing you didn't bet a 16 game parlay, because you'd be kicking yourself over the millions you didn't win.

Out of curiosity, what was the one loss?

Ok I'm gonna go ahead and say Seahawks v. Broncos for SB

I don't trust a team that's 3-5 on the road to win three straight road games in the playoffs (I'm assuming SF takes care of business at home against Arizona).

I was listening to the games on Sirius in the car yesterday and had the Cowboys broadcast team. When Spencer got called for grabbing the facemask the announcers said, "on the replay you can see he didn't actually grab it but he did brush by it, and you just can't get near a quarterback's helmet these days."

I'm a die hard NC State fan and have always been a big supporter and fan of Wilson. As cliche as it sounds and as much as I hate using/hearing terms like "it factor", the guy really does have something special about him. He's got a great work ethic and is a great all around guy from all accounts.

I definitely did not see THIS amount of success - especially this soon - but I always thought he had a good chance to be successful (regardless of his height).

And, I was honestly happy to see him transfer to Wisconsin for his last year because I thought it would elevate his exposure for sure (like, you know, how even in this thread people didn't know he was a stud 3 years at NC State prior to playing at Wisconsin)

Should QB size really be that big a deal anymore? I know it is among scouts, but with the increase in spread offenses and mobile QBs, you're not seeing quarterbacks just drop straight back and try to look over linemen anymore. Now they're scrambling out, moving around and getting out from behind the linemen. At that point, size is pretty irrelevant as long as you can get enough force behind your throws.

By the way, I'm not questioning you or anything, it's more that your question caused me to have this thought.

Yes.

Those scrambling QBs don't last for the long run. They will have great games, and amazing stretches and possibly even terrific full seasons. But over the course of their careers they will get too banged up to be consistently great like the big mostly pocket passers who dominate the league.

Right, I understand how effective he can be when scrambling, but it seems like even when he stands in the pocket he's making strong, accurate throws. Maybe it's been a myth that quarterbacks need to be tall.

Yes.

Should it be a tool used? Sure. Should it be the deciding factor that causes 1st round talent like Wilson and others to drop multiple rounds? I don't think so.

I'm not advocating ignoring that one QB is 6'5 and another is 5'9, but if the 5'9 QB is better in pretty much every other facet, I don't think the height should be a crippling factor anymore.

I'm not necessarily advocating taking a scrambling QB over a pocket passer. Obviously, you take the QB you think will be the better player in the long term. I'm just wondering if, as offenses spread out more and QBs roll out more often (not scramble around and gain yardage running, just roll outside the pocket), size isn't quite the factor it once was.

It used to be when teams ran mostly out of the I-form and singleback with only limited shotgun and QBs largely stood in the pocket and didn't look to move around, having a 6'4-6'6 QB was critical. Now, however, we're seeing offenses spread out more, QBs get outside the pocket more, and we're seeing guys like Wilson and Brees have a ton of success.

That was my point when bringing up how much offenses are spreading out. I guess my question was whether or not the spread offense coming into the NFL has negated some of the negative of a shorter QB - especially those who can scramble.

Bud Adams is meeting with Munchak, Team President Mike Reinfeldt, and GM Ruston Webster after Sunday's game. They could talk Bud into giving them one more year, but it sounds like a massive housecleaning could be coming in Nashville.

And I wouldn't mind it at all. A better occurrence would be for Bud to quit getting so involved in micromanaging the organization. He should hire a team president, let the president hire a GM and the GM hire a head coach. And Bud should definitely stop telling the coaches who to pick - he's getting as bad as Jerry Jones is and Al Davis was.

After seeing what Jeff Fisher has done with a roster that won two games last season (should have been one), with no defensive coordinator and a good amount of rookies, it appears that Bud Adams is a moron and Tennessee is elbow-deep in [expletive] creek.
