I basically blew off the Seahawks as a mid-range club, and their record combined with their inability to win on the road seemed to support that.

But looking at the DVOAs, it's a different story. They are easily the highest ranked team with a 6-5 record, and actually outrank the Bears right now. Also, they held steady in spite of their loss last week.

It is uncanny how you can just chalk up home wins and away losses for them, almost regardless of opponent. Wins at home against Green Bay*, NE. Losses on the road against MIA, STL.

Ultimately, I really hope that continues -- that is all.

Fixed.

I keep talking to some of my friends who are Packers fans, and they are starting to agree with me about this one. Had one of Jennings, Williams, or Woodson just swatted the ball, instead of trying for an interception, the ref wouldn't have had a chance to blow the call. They didn't NEED an interception there. Just swat the ball out of play and be done with it.

Oh Tommy Jackson's ingenius advice, except when it doesn't work.

sure, that works:

i hate this meatball concept that batting the ball down is some kind of foolproof way to defend the hail mary. the same coaches that teach you to bat the ball down also teach the tip drill.

catch the [expletive] ball

catch the [expletive] ball

All 3 of those tips happened near the hash marks and at the front of the end-zone. The Seahawks "catch" was in the back corner. The Packers had 3 guys on it. If they smack it backwards, it's out of play, and the ball doesn't even have to go very far. Just because it doesn't work sometimes, doesn't mean it won't work ever. It may be "meatball" but that's how I was taught back in the day. My apologies.

that's exactly what meatballs say and why they're meatballs.

I just assumed "meatballs" said things like, "They should have kicked him in the nuts, then he wouldn't have caught it."

No, meatballs are all about the game being played "the right way."

I don't care which way is "right"... Just which way is most effective in each scenario. Most the time, I'd agree that going for the INT is the best bet, I just don't see it in this one.

no, a meatball generally starts thoughts off like "in my day......", or "this wouldn't have happened if ditka were alive today."

the meatballiest thing of all is presenting a common meatball reaction as some sort of great epiphany.

i can't tell you how many people i heard the next day talking about "the funny thing is this all wouldn't matter if he would have just batted the ball down."

that;s how i know you're a meatball. well, that and the other stuff.

i was going to give this a score between 0-10, but i think this is really more along the lines of "has the cadence of a joke" than "is a joke"
