Gotta give Delaney credit. I did not see him adding the Yankees to the big ten.

Will they be in the Leaders or Legends division?

How good will their football team be in 2013?

Yankees ownership wanting to take the cash at this point may be signalling a top in the market for team owned networks.

I believe this is going to come out of Goldman Sachs and Providence Equity Partners' stake, not the % owned by the Yankees which they are keeping.

I believe this is Goldman Sachs, etc's stake, not the % owned by the Yankees which they are keeping.

Perhaps, it's 49% though and supposedly with an opportunity to acquire a majority within a couple years.

Those guys wanting out now though is an even stronger signal.

Possibly, could also be for tax purposes too. With the increases likely coming in cap gains and the corporate tax they are probably wanting to get out now and pay less in taxes and maximize profits on their gains. This is especially true if the entities selling are on the investment banking side (Goldman, etc.) as they are short term guys anyways whereas a company like Newscorp probably sees this as a long-term investment.

If I had to make a guess I'd say this move is likely more an indication of investors seeing the likely tax increases coming and making a decision based off that than an indication of where they think the future of team owned networks is going.

So, what, this is another potential advantage the Cubs are going to miss out on? Sweet.

This is just all the more reason we shouldn't spend any money until 2019.

Almora and Baez will be, what, 26 then? Better wait a year or two until they are truly in their primes.

I think we better get as much as we possibly can in 2014 when WGN runs out. Whether its thru Comcast, Ricketts buys out Comcast, or whatever, I seriously doubt the bubble will be as good 5 years later.
