I like Long. Would like him a lot more if he were 22, and not 24. Would've have liked him a lot more later in the draft, though I'm guessing nobody offered enough. I actually like him at LT, but he could be a nice LG too. I would have bet a lot of money that the Bears would NOT take OL in the first. So, gotta applaud them for getting help where they've needed it most for years. I would have actually bet they wouldn't take OL at all. A lot of bodies on the line now. May the best 5 win.

Gotta applaud them? Are you kidding? A run on oline and the bears piss their pants taking a 3rd rounder with so many better players on the board.

You're one of the main ones crying for OL help on here. He gets one and you aren't happy still? Definitely a reach. But my point is, at least it wasn't a reach for a college CB moving to S who missed his entire senior year. At least it wasn't a tweener FB/TE. It's not a good pick, but it addresses the franchises biggest need since trading for Jay Cutler.

God, you guys are such drama queens. Long wouldn't have been around anywhere near the 3rd.

Yeah, completely agreed. Don't dislike this pick like I disliked last years. Just wish they could have traded down for him.

I think they're hoping Long can start at LT in a few years when Bushrod is past his prime.

Haha, Long was, at best, going within the next 15 picks. Third rounder?

You all are giant spazzes

Eifert and Floyd were available and we took the Brandon Weeden of OL.

He got one that should not have been drafted in the first round. It's a need, but that's why you don't ignore it in 2012. It doesn't justify an awful first round pick. You sign a starting LT and OG specifically so you don't have to do something stupid like draft this guy in the first.

04/25/13 - 2013 NFL DRAFT: SIX GUYS WHO MAY SNEAK INTO THE FIRST ROUND: 4. Kyle Long, OG/OT Oregon: Many have claimed his best position in pro football is guard and it may very well be true. But I had an offensive line coach tell me he really likes Long as a right tackle and was impressed with how much the former Ducks player understood about the position after just five major college starts. If that o-line coach has any say in the draft he wants Long in the second round. - Pat Kirwan, CBSSports.com

Pure disappointment. A [expletive] 4th rated GUARD in the first round

This guard class is better than most any we've seen recently. And Long can play tackle.

Look, there's no way to sugarcoat it. Emery has gotten cute two years in a row and not drafted the consensus BPA for any of his picks minus Jeffrey, the one high upside player. Could it be he's smarter then all the gurus and people out there??

Right. If the Bears graded Long as the best OL left, they should've taken him. Seems like that's what happened. Waiting on a guy because you think you MAYBE can get him 2 rounds later might be fine in a fantasy football draft but it's not how NFL GM's operate.

He wouldn't have lasted because of the run on lineman, not because of his ability.

I definitely would have taken 30 and 92, considering who we took. I can't imagine he wouldn't have been there at 30, if we were dead set on him.

I agree. And I said it was a reach and a bad pick.

Also, funny that last year I wanted Nick Perry, only to watch him go a few picks later to GB. This year, Floyd....and he goes to the Vikings.

Well, also given their recent OL drafting history, that's an emphatic no.

You're not disagreeing properly. The last regime held responsible for development is gone. If anything the pick was a gross reach with 5 better players on the board.
