Should've used more two back power run plays in the first half. Our good running plays take awhile to develop the blocking and we weren't going to outflank these guys.

Definitely need Alshon back.

apparently Campbell's checkdown process is "if they're covered at the line of scrimmage pre-snap, I'm not throwing to them"

I figured Campbell signed as a backup with the Bears because he wanted to prove he was starter quality after his gruesome injury last year. I guess not...he just sucks

and then the other backup spot we fortified, at RB is actually decent but never used, and when used fumbled it away

That may be the first time I've ever seen a check down two minute drill.

See check downs all the time in the 2-minute. Usually they aren't covered check downs, but it's a way to get easy yardage, especially when you have plenty of time and a timeout.

STFU Collinsworth!!!

What did he say now?

Just a bunch of effusive praise for Phillips and the Texans D, which given the conditions and the Cutler KO seemed to be overkill.

Usually a QB......even a pretty bad one......will not throw that checkdown when a defender is right there, waiting to make the tackle. Apparently, JC is a different breed. Just throw it to the checkdown even if it is a guaranteed sucky play.

I'm still trying to figure out why they let Cutler play the rest of the 1st half?

Didn't put him thru the tests yet. He played the rest of the half with a concussion vs the Giants 2 years ago. Vick played a few plays after a concussion today. Unless it's a pretty obvious KO type hit, the QB is going to stay in if he says he can stay in.

Well yeah, I didn't say those were good ideas. Just that it does happen, and quite often at that.

Well, sucky game. But, it's really hard to say what would have happened with Cutler in there the whole game. We didn't get blown out, and the Texans weren't really able to dominate.

All of this just emphasizes how important a good QB is to me. Campbell can't save us in a pinch, just like Hanie couldn't. Without Jay Cutler, we are pretty much sunk. As tonight showed.

FWIW, I needed 18 points from Forte and Gould tonight to win my fantasy matchup. I lost by 3.8 points. If Gould makes what would have turned out to be a meaningless 48-yard FG, I win by 0.2.

Last week I lost by 4 because Percy Harvin AND Antonio Brown both get hurt in the 1st half and combine for 7 points. The week before I lost by 2 because Tony Romo threw a late INT to the Giants D. Lost 3 in a row by a combined 10 points after starting 6-1.

True but it was pretty obvious the texans were really conservative on offense about 2 drives in the second half when they realized the bears were probably not going to score a TD in the game.

Also if they knew cutler was shaken up on that hit and possibly concussed, they should have at least tried to convince him it was the 4th quarter when finishing up the half.

An my most important concern is the status of the Jay Cutler show tomorrow.

A brain injury that may shorten his life. That's a pretty fucked up thing to make light of.

I know that the NFL doesn't want to get into a trend of figuring out how penalties should off set against each other, but that Cutler illegal forward pass/roughing the passer play really doesn't seem right. I understand that any time penalties are called on both sides they are going to off set, but I feel pretty strongly that it shouldn't in this case. Maybe it's because I'm biased.

An illegal forward pass results in a 5 yard penalty and a loss of down.

Roughing the passer is 15 yard penalty and automatic first down.

The fact that the play ultimately resulted in the most important player on the Bears getting knocked out of the game makes it even more frustrating. If Jay ends up missing significant time, is there any chance the NFL would look at this? At minimum, I really think the team guilty of the personal foul needs to be the beneficiary in terms of down (offensive team is guilty, they lose down/ defensive team guilty results in a first down).

You're the "not Magic Johnson AIDS, but full blown AIDS" guy, correct?
