Game 9 - Houston Texans @ BEARS - 7:20 PM SNF

Wow Hub Arkush is the voice of reason today.

Explain?

Says that he feels better about the Bears after this loss, they hung with the best team in the AFC etc. Also said that Campbell can QB for 8 teams in the league and he thinks he'll do great in SF.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how the Bears only scored 6 points. They had 13 possessions and only 2 started at the 20 or inside (ok one was at 21 and another at 23)

Look at every starting field possession for Chicago last night:

CHI 37

HOU 45

HOU 38 (FG)

CHI 20

CHI 49

CHI 21

CHI 23

CHI 38

CHI 48 (FG)

CHI 38 (missed FG)

CHI 14

CHI 25

CHI 38

4-13 possessions started at midfield or in Texans territory, 8-13 possessions started at our own 37 or better and only 1 drive started inside the 20. And 6 points and what 1 trip to the red zone? Despite all this great field possession we only had 4 drives lasting more than 23 yards and 8 that lasted under 15 yards.

Because they [expletive] the bed. It was an offensive disaster. Teams will continue to squib it and disrespect the Offense.

“I have no idea,’’ he said. “No clue. But it was good that he was out, though. You always want to take the quarterback out of the game.’’

Think about that: Dobbins was just asked about Cutler’s concussion, a brain injury that has become a defining issue for football. And his response was that he was glad Cutler had been knocked out of the game.

This guy needs a suspension and a big fine.

If you knock a quarterback out of a game with what the league determines is a vicious and dirty helmet-to-helmet, and your team ends up winning the game or otherwise benefiting greatly because of it, you need an indefinite suspension equal to or greater than the rest of the season. That will end it.

It was a combination of Cutler being knocked out and passes being dropped. We also didn't get Forte going, but if we hit a few of those dropped passes thing might've opened up.

I've always thought a fair suspension for a deliberate helmet-to-helmet hit was that you miss as much time as the player you injured does. Whether it be a few plays, couple weeks, whatever.

The problem with that is then you end up with some nobody faking a head injury to get the other team's superstar defender out of the game.

Yeah, it works better if you apply it to the after-game examination and determination of the extent of the injury. Essentially, the offending player can't return to action until the injured player does. And, the offending player's team can't make roster moves to compensate.

The idea that you can determine a deliberate helmet to helmet with enough consistency to enforce a rule likee that is absurd. The game is played with forward body lean, they'll happen no matter what.
