Game 9 - Houston Texans @ BEARS - 7:20 PM SNF

I'm starting to hate the Texans. Bears now 0-3 all time against them. The first time we played them they shut us out in 5 degree temps, the next time they knock us out of the playoffs and now tonight they give our QB a potentially serious injury and introduce Calib Collins part 3 to the world.

Also if they knew cutler was shaken up on that hit and possibly concussed, they should have at least tried to convince him it was the 4th quarter when finishing up the half.

An my most important concern is the status of the Jay Cutler show tomorrow.

A brain injury that may shorten his life. That's a pretty [expletive] up thing to make light of.

You're the "not Magic Johnson AIDS, but full blown AIDS" guy, correct?

LMAO

Yep, it was a terrible cheap shot.

Selected Twitter posts about Campbell

@AbdulDC_Chillin: Same ol Campbell from his Redskin days... check-down machine

@PSchrags: We saw Matt Leinart, Jason Campbell, and Mark Sanchez today. Christmas Day for fans of the meaningless check down pass.

@O_thats_V: #Texans Victory thanks to the "check down" king Campbell

@__Kareem_: Good Ole, Mr. Check Down himself Jason Campbell, we've seen this story before wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy to many times

About half the Campbell posts are from Redskins and Raiders fans laughing about how good it is to see the check down king back in action and not on their teams.

Also I know I'm taking over this page but I'm shocked that there were over 2,000 no shows tonight. Attendance was around 59,500 apparently. Look I know the weather blew but a couple of 7-1 teams playing on SNF? At least sell your tickets to fans that would actually go.

#Texans LB Tim Dobbins denies hitting #Bears QB Jay Cutler in the head. "I hit him in the chest," Dobbins said.

Translation: "I hope they don't take my money from me."

Too bad there's this thing now called "TV" where they can even show replays and such.

Sums it up for me:

@LenKasper: Think about this--Texans got free knockout hit on Cutler on off-setting penalties. And then after replay, refs blew call. Doesn't seem right

Jason Campbell was annoying, the weather blew, and the refs sucked, but honestly, if Kellen Davis didn't stink up the joint, we probably get a win last night.

I'm not going to go back and find it, but that's what I said at the time too.

He at least should get a hefty fine or something for that hit.

And that pass was absolutely legal.

I know that the NFL doesn't want to get into a trend of figuring out how penalties should off set against each other, but that Cutler illegal forward pass/roughing the passer play really doesn't seem right. I understand that any time penalties are called on both sides they are going to off set, but I feel pretty strongly that it shouldn't in this case. Maybe it's because I'm biased.

An illegal forward pass results in a 5 yard penalty and a loss of down.

Roughing the passer is 15 yard penalty and automatic first down.

The fact that the play ultimately resulted in the most important player on the Bears getting knocked out of the game makes it even more frustrating. If Jay ends up missing significant time, is there any chance the NFL would look at this? At minimum, I really think the team guilty of the personal foul needs to be the beneficiary in terms of down (offensive team is guilty, they lose down/ defensive team guilty results in a first down).

They do. If you listen to the way the ref announced it, he said the illegal forward pass wasn't a "simple foul". Meaning the if it had been an illegal formation or something along those lines, they would have enforced both penalties and the Bears would have gotten 10 yards. I do, however, have a problem with their definition of a simple foul. Anything that only results in a 5 yard penalty, loss of down or not, should not offset a pretty brutal personal foul call.

I'm still fuming about that blown call. His back foot was still behind the line. It was clear as day. Then then the ref comes back and says something along the lines of "You all are fools. Play on field was absolutely correct. We're awarding the Texans the free hit on Cutler. Go F yourselves, Chicago."

I can't what the ref said verbatim, but it was something like that.

Also, in those conditions, why on 3rd and short, did they keep trying for the long ball? It wasn't happening. Give it to forte/bush.

The long ball was there. Receivers just couldn't bring them in.

Yep. Cutler made several spot on passes that weren't hauled in. And as good as Marshall is/was, he clanged a TD pass.

Soooo many things about last night that irk me. The Marshall TD pass that wasn't is yet another.

“I have no idea,’’ he said. “No clue. But it was good that he was out, though. You always want to take the quarterback out of the game.’’

Think about that: Dobbins was just asked about Cutler’s concussion, a brain injury that has become a defining issue for football. And his response was that he was glad Cutler had been knocked out of the game.

This guy needs a suspension and a big fine.

I'm like shaking from excitement while downloading Doug and OBs post game from last night. They always have a way of making me feel better about Bears losses by venting about all the things I want to vent about.

I can't handle that show past the 15 minute mark.
