People need to stop making "he's a rookie" excuse for Gabe Carimi. He's one of the worst pass protecting right tackles in the game right now. That isn't expected performance, especially for a rookie drafted in the first round, at one of the easier(or less difficult) positions on the oline. It's quite possible that this is another (last thankfully) first round bust from the Jerry Angelo era.

The fact that he's "really good" as a run blocker, but "overwhelmed" in pass protection could mean his future is ticketed at guard. Boy do we really want to go down that road again?

Umm ok. He's a rookie and when using logic we can safely assume he will only improve with more reps and training camps. How many rookies play to their ceiling in the first year?

It is absolutely disgusting that Angelo couldn't draft a player in the first round to make an impact. We should have at least 2-3 more first round starters on this team from Angelo's years.

No, you can't really assume that. Did Chris Williams ever get better at being a left tackle? No.

Oh well if Chris Williams didn't get better then it must mean it never happens.

Not sure why its difficult for you to grasp the concept that players more often than not develop over their first few seasons and many improve dramatically. Its hard to prove statistically, but I'd bet a decent percentage of current quality tackles struggled or underwhelmed their rookie year. But yeah let's go ahead and cut Carimi after 9 games.

I can never catch Cutler's show on the radio. It makes me sad, sounds like they have a lot of fun.

Do a search for "jay cutler show podcast". It's usually up within 24hrs. This weeks is on there now.

Got it, thx. I never think about the podcast option. Just downloaded yesterday's.

Just listened to it, and man is Jay funny. I hope he doesn't just disappear after he retires. I'd love to see him on tv or hear him on the radio. Maybe on CSN postgame live at least? :)

Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will miss Sunday’s game at Tennessee, but the rookie playmaker could be available for the Nov. 11 game with the Texans or the Nov. 19 game at San Francisco. A source said Jeffery should return soon from the broken right hand that has sidelined him since the Oct. 7 win at Jacksonville in two weeks.

Carimi is struggling with pass blocking, and excellent at run blocking. This is still for all intents and purposes his rookie year. It's a little early to write him off as a bust.

Wasn't that the knock on him in college?

Bears 5th in DVOA this week, offensive efficiency took a nose dive.

They're rated behind Denver, San Francisco, New England, and the NY Giants.

TEN ranks incredibly low for a team with 3 wins.

TEN ranks incredibly low for a team with 3 wins.

IND ranks incredibly low for a team with 4 wins. The bottom 9 teams in the AFC are awful, and worse than anyone in the NFC. Three of the bottom 4 are in the AFC South.

Houston could probably finish 8-8 and win the division

One more thing to note, this is the first week that the Bears playoff odds are over 90%. In fact, 11 teams right now have a greater than 75% chance of getting a playoff spot: Denver, New England, Houston, Baltimore, Miami, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, San Francisco, NY Giants, Chicago, and Green Bay.

That's crazy that Denver is #1

Walter's latest mock has us going DT/CB in the first 2 rounds. If Emery did that he'd come under intense fire for not addressing the OL.

Unless he goes out and sign 2 OLs in FA. With Jones and Short being picked right before the Bears, I would either trade up a couple spots to get one of them or just trade down into the 2nd round, draft Sheldon Richardson and gain a 3rd round pick.
