The Cubs death train keeps on rolling. Football is getting nearer and everyday closer to week 1 the Cubs move further from the public's collective conscious. At the very least it would be nice to see Rizzo get out of his slump, Casto and Shark (until shut down) finish strong and BJax and Vitters show signs of life.

Sorry for the LLF like stream of consciousness post.

Atleast were in the #2 slot right now for next years draft. To bad we won't catch the Astros for #1

We play the Astros 6 more times, just let Rusin, Raley, and Volstad start all 6 games and don't play Rizzo/Castro/Soriano/Dejesus in any of those games and we might have a chance. Rockies won again today (8/23) that makes 5 in a row for them so hopefully they keep on their winning ways this weekend to help make #2 more secure for us.

In more positive news, I managed to sell my Cubs tix to some sucker! StubHub check on the way :)

Jackson makes contact with a 2 strike pitch. And hits a HR.

I would've taken either/or, getting both is great.

Meanwhile the Cubs have 3 hits on the day and all 3 are solo home runs.

Edit: And as I hit send, Valbuena hits a 2B.

I still think the #1 overall pick is achievable this year.

Right now, we're 20 games out of 1st with a .387 WP, and still 9.5 games above the Astros. Even if we replaced our entire team with the Iowa roster, we'd have trouble catching them.
