Kane County's home games mostly start at 6:30, and most Wrigley day games are 1:20 starts. Considering a 3 hour game and the route you'd have to take during rush hour, it would probably be a close call to make it to your seat for 1st pitch in Kane County. A better bet would probably be to match one of the rare Kane County weekday games(like their labor day game against Peoria) with a Wrigley night game.

Wrigley traffic doesn't double your commute.

Wrigley traffic + rush hour traffic on the Dan Ryan, Eisenhower, and 88 would probably add a half hour to a trip that's 70 minutes with no traffic. Plus you physically have to get yourself from seat to car at Wrigley and from car to seat in Kane County, which is probably another 30 minutes. It's not impossible, but you'd certainly be at risk of missing the start of the 2nd game.

I became a Cubs fan mostly because Peoria was so close and was mad when it became a Cardinals team. I'll be bummed if they move away again.

According to the Professional Baseball Agreement—the rules that guide the relationship between Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball—teams can discuss new affiliations only during a two-week open period that begins on Sept. 16. Any contact before then is prohibited, as is any public comment on other teams’ affiliates.

Asked when Minor League Baseball might open an investigation into possible tampering, O’Conner responded: “As soon as that article hit my desk . . . As soon as we were aware of it, we started to look into it.”

...

The secretive nature of the affiliation shuffle leads to plenty of speculation throughout the season about who is going where, and it’s not unusual for teams to have arrangements in place before the affiliation shuffle kicks off. If Kane County and the Cubs do end up together, their biggest mistake appears to be letting the news slip in advance.

“We don’t take any of it lightly,” O’Conner said.

Tampering penalties include a fine of $500,000 for a major league team and up to $100,000 for a minor league team, according to the PBA. O’Conner said he has contacted Kane County officials and commissioner Bud Selig’s office regarding the Cubs.

Cubs re-up with Boise for 2 more years.

Waiting to hear on Peoria and Daytona. The Cardinals have already announced they're leaving Quad Cities; they're expected to replace the Cubs in Peoria.

Man, that would piss me off. I feel like the Cubs had/have developed their Central Illinois fan base through the Chiefs. At least I'm a fan because of the Chiefs, so there's that.

I have mixed emotions. I had hoped for a Portland area team, but at least Boise comes through Salem. Also if Yakima comes to Hillsboro....

This is a done deal.

The Chiefs officially announced they're an affiliate of the Cardinals. Still waiting on the Cubs to announce.

Well, that sucks.

To point out how much of a different perspective makes, when I saw your post, I was expecting to look up and read something about our deal with Kane County falling through. #-o

@CSNMooney

#Cubs make it official, announce deal with Kane County, extensions with Daytona, Boise. The player development contracts run through 2014.

Poo on Daytona. Oh well, I'm pretty confident we'll be in the Carolina League in a couple of years once they open up.

I go to Chiefs games whenever I'm back home (Bloomington). I'm not going to travel close to Chicago just to see a Cubs minor league team play.

I believe 2014 is when a lot of the Carolina league contracts are up.

Yes, but they're also rather and I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't any openings.

And now I get to see a Cubs minor league team play about an hour away. That was my point.
