Vizcaino, if he is indeed the guy, would immediately become our top pitching prospect, no?

This is spectacular.

Yeah. He'd be the 4th best prospect in the system behind the Baez/Almora/Soler triumvirate.

our best pitching prospect is an injured guy who's never pitched for us

way to bring us down

Not for long, from the looks of things.

The Cubs aren't confirming the deals until tomorrow, but their twitter account is apparently not bound by that limitation.

which is fine. he'll be ready next year, and probably on a count. He is a guy for 2014, not next years spring training.

Now a says scouts look at prospects who have already had TJS as a bonus because they shouldn't have to worry about it.

I don't see how Vizcaino is our #1 pitching prospect with our last draft.

He is coming off TJS and is rather young and unproven. Great stuff though. But, what is really the big difference between him and Maples?

when did he have tjs?

March

so he may be ready by spring training?

the guy had reconstructive surgery on his elbow. granted, it's not his shoulder, but still, he won't be the same.

Actually he should be exactly the same.

Between Theo-led mechanics magic and the recent advances in TJS, he'll probably be better.

Well, the big difference would be that he's already done what we merely hope Maples will do for the next four years.

maples has thrown 1 minor league inning, while vizcaino can get it up to 97 and has had success as a 20 year old in AA?

Like most people, I scratched my head when the Cubs signed Reed again. Then I got mad about it but for the last couple of months, I have changed my mind about him as the 4th or 5th outfielder. So I am willing to eat crow about Reed and am now finding myself thinking he would be a valuable bench guy next year too.

I assume Vizcaino will not be ready until spring training next year. Does anyone know?
