Ramirez. I know it's a drop in the bucket as far as correcting your posts, but come on man.

Seriously you don't know who that is because of an "e".

I didn't say that I didn't know who it was.

I really don't feel the need to check spelling when the name can be spelled either way

It can't be spelled either way. There's never been a ballplayer with that spelling.

Since you spelled it the wrong way consistently through this whole thread, I thought somebody should let you know.

Also it seems a possiblity that the trading of rameriz, opens up the trade of johnson to the rangers for olt?

the trade may take more, or it may come down to how much heat the marlins take for their salary drops so far.

A johnson trade certainly leaves no doubt the marlins are completely starting over.

Add something to the thread or don't respond. I really don't feel the need to check spelling when the name can be spelled either way AND it doesn't change the meaning of the post NOR does it "hide" who is being talked about in the post. Now if we were dealing with a Rameriz and also a Ramirez and a Ramirez it would matter.

Banedon is trying to make your posts more understandable. He's not adding something but he's trying to stop you from taking away so much from the thread. Think of it as driving in runs with his glove.

It can't be spelled either way? I'll tell several of my students that they can no longer spell it that way. BUT before I do that perhaps you may want to put rameriz into google and see how many people have their name spelled that way.

It takes nothing away from the idea of the post, but this certainly does not do much for the thread. You are simply awesome and add much to the conversation.

But really, the point is this. Your posts are nearly incoherent with spelling errors, run on sentences, and other such grammatical miscues. I honestly had to stop trying to read them because they weren't worth the effort to parse what you're saying. If you want to argue a point with someone, please do them the favor of not forcing them to interpret your shorthand.

Also, and I know we've seen this before, but...this guy apparently teaches youths!

Yes, and has a Master's in Education. ^ Very poor sentence structure for someone commenting about grammar.

We had a talk about this once .

I don't feel the need to "spell and grammar" check my posts for a sports board. It is quite different from a paper or assignment.

When I write on here, they are not meant to be sentences, they are statements. I could "bullet" them but really does not matter in scheme of things.

I have no idea why you choose to make it an issue.

This is a thread about trades, if you don't like or can't/understand my post, THEN DON'T READ THEM. Making these posts simply get in the way of the discussion, and only serve to make you feel better about yourself.

I guess this is what I get for being right that rameriz is spelled either ramirez or rameriz.

Let's get back to the thread.

Rameriz is a completely different name than Ramirez.

Yes, but if we are talking about the guy traded to the Dodgers, I am guessing that it did not disguise that it was Hanley Ramirez being talked about nor do I think that anyone went running for the news wire to see who this "Rameriz" is that the Dodgers got in addition to Ramirez.

It truly so unimportant in the understanding of thread that it is ridiculous to spend a dozen posts analyzing it.

Now again, can we get back to the trade thread?

Why would you talk in bullets? What kind of [expletive] would post on a message board in bullet points? We're having a conversation, whether you like it or not. Continuing your schizo style of discourse at this point is rude.

Also, if anyone pronounces "ramirez" and "rameriz" the same way, they get punched in the [expletive] face.

Which is nothing short of an indictment of the state of education in this country.

And the "I don't feel the need to practice proper grammar, syntax, spelling, etc. on a message board" shtick is weak. People who practice proper English as a habit don't lapse completely into unformatted gibberish just simply becuase the context is relaxed. They maintain at least a semblance of legible communication. I'd sooner use having Parkinson's disease as an excuse for what you post.

Anyone with a master's degree in anything should know the importance of effective communication. People aren't as likely to read, much less take seriously what you have to say when it appears that you simply bashed your head into your keyboard repeatedly and then hit "submit". No one here composes their posts like they are writing a dissertation and we all make mistakes. But your posts are actually painful to read.

Yeah, as a teacher myself the whole "I don't give a [expletive] about grammar and spelling because it's the internet" that guys like this and hccf all but brag about drives me up the wall. How is spelling things correctly and trying to use proper grammar something you just switch off? I can understand abbreviations/acronyms or not capitalizing, but these guys seemingly have everything just break down on them when they're trying to put together a thought. It honestly reads like someone who is drunk or having a stroke.

That's actually one of the few correct sentences NC has written on NSBB. It's only incorrect when taken out of context, as you've done here.

This really isn't going anywhere productive, so let's please drop the non-baseball discussion. If you want a formal "policy" of sorts, let's go with this: We can't make anyone use correct spellings or proper grammar, that's something you have to choose to do. While we all make our share of mistakes, the expectation at NSBB is that you write to a level that people can understand you without a ton of extra effort. If you can't bring yourself to meet that very low bar, then you risk the community losing respect for your opinions, and potentially even disciplinary action if you fail to meet that threshold in a large volume of posts. Thanks, and let's please let this be the final word on the topic, unless another mod wishes to clarify my words here.
