First of all, LOL @ the Marlins for wasting a lot of money on FA this offseason. Secondly, I don't know how anyone could stand to be a Marlins fan at this point, but I digress..

The Marlins have let opposing teams know they may be in sell mode later this month if they don't turn their season around, ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports (on Twitter). The Marlins will be willing to discuss every player on their roster, including Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Johnson and Omar Infante, if they decide to sell, Olney wrote earlier today.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com writes that the Marlins would listen to offers for Stanton and others, but points out that a long-term extension for the young slugger is more likely. We shouldn't expect Stanton to go anywhere, but Anibal Sanchez and Randy Choate could be traded, Frisaro writes. The Marlins haven’t made any players untouchable, though some are unlikely to be traded, Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun Sentinel adds (on Twitter).

Miami has played to a disappointing 43-46 record after generating considerable hype leading up to the 2012 season. They signed Jose Reyes, Heath Bell and Mark Buehrle, added manager Ozzie Guillen, moved to a new stadium, and changed their team name and uniform during the 2011-12 offseason.

I'd give up a whole hell of a lot to get Stanton, but I doubt he goes anywhere. The Marlins would be fools to move him.

If them sweeping us keeps them from selling, I'm all for it. Johnson and Sanchez on the market is going to make it that much harder to get solid returns on our guys.

Who would have guessed that Loria & Co. would try to whip up offseason enthusiasm for their new ballpark (that they didn't pay for but still stand to profit from) only to sell off their assets shortly thereafter?

Pretty much everyone.

Weren't the Reyes, Buerhle, and Bell (also there's the whole fact Bell sucks now) deals all incredibly backloaded too? Good luck getting a return for any of those guys, Loria.

if they just disappeared not too many would take any notice.

The Marlins are 12/16 in NL attendance this year. I'm too lazy to look this up, but when has a team ever opened up a brand new ballpark in a major city and managed only to improve from dead last to 12th? Why does this team even exist?!

Who's behing them? If I had to guess, in no particular order, Rockies, Astros, Padres, Pirates? That's awful that they have only seen that little of a spike in attendance

Arizona, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Houston. Although, none of the attendance figures are glaringly bad in the NL this year with Houston last at just north of 22k a game (Oakland, Tampa and Cleveland are lower than that in the AL).

Maybe I just missed it, but did they even really have all that much "hype?" Most of the stories seemed to revolve around how they DIDN'T get any of the big FA they were rumored to be in on except for Reyes.

They certainly were letting it be known they were going to try their "best" on all of them. It seemed to me that their meetings and visits got hyped up by them much differently than with other teams. Could have just been me though.
