It's only been a handful of game, but I like Valbuena's approach. Seems to foul off a lot of pitches and work deep counts. And he has showed some good power, which is also nice.

Sad to say that Volstad is probably a better option.

 

Can't wait until August when we have a rotation of Samardzjia/Wood/Maholm/Wells/Volstad. There's the chance that Maholm's traded too, so we might just end up with Casey Coleman or Rodrigo Lopez in his spot.

I know you weren't trying to say this, but I get the feeling that meatball Cubs fans are going to expect Rizzo to come out and have a 1.000 OPS and lead the offense to a resurgence and if he does anything less he's going to take flack and be considered a disappointment. The expectations for this kid have to be sky high.

If the plan is LaHair in RF and DeJesus in CF, all he needs to do is top the 539 OPS we've already gotten out of CF.
