woah...vitters BB

I was hoping for Vitters to either start walking more or start homering more. He really needs to really do one or the other really well, really soon. Nice that he did both today. Now back-to-back games with walks, and 3 of his 8 on the season have come in the last week.

For the hell of it, Votto's career minor league numbers are 3016 PA, 97 homers, 404 walks, 665 K's, with a line of. 289/.386/.477. Rizzo's minor league line is 1786 PA, 77 homers, 171 walks, 367 K's, with a line of. 302/.371/.531. Yeah, he's had the PCL and Votto did not, but he's also been younger than Votto was at each level. So yeah, now I'm going to be irrationally thinking Rizzo is the next Votto. Not really, but his numbers stack up very well at least.

Rizzo also had to work himself back into shape after the whole cancer ordeal. Still, while Votto is proof that players of their pedigree with that type of performance can be elite, there's also plenty of examples of guys who hit as well or better and didn't amount to anything. Votto is more of a "not excluded" than "included" example when it comes to Rizzo's chances of being elite, if that makes sense.

They are pretty much the exact same size too. I actually think (as those numbers show) that Rizzo has more natural power. Votto's much more patient though, the most patient in the game at this point. Rizzo though has put the ball in play at a better rate than Votto did in the minors (20% vs. 22%). The comparison isn't that bad. It's tough to make because you don't want to project Rizzo to be one of the top 5 players in the game, but the potential is there.

T. Wood was decent enough, but when the time comes, other than the fact that he's already on the 40 man I see know reason why Rusin shouldn't get the next call up.

Because the other 1000 innings of Wood's career show that he's a lot better, and his peripherals are better this year too. He's also 4 months younger than Rusin and has better stuff.

but other than that, can't see any reason.

Fine. But the one thing they have in common is that they're not Chris Volstad, and that's all I ask for.

Very good point.

I'll be stunned if Wood isn't brought up and put in the rotation for the next turn. Volstad can go to the pen and we can send down Parker, Coleman, or whoever.

Harry Teinowitz‏@HeyTweetHarry

Is something big going on with the Cubs? As Harry Caray would say, "Could be, might be, . . . Tune in tomorrow"

Harry Teinowitz‏@HeyTweetHarry

Cubs could have some very big news coming!

Didn't know where to put this, but maybe a Rizzo callup? Soler? Probably not but who knows.

Harry is about 35th on the list of people I would expect to have accurate inside information about the team.

My other possibility is a Garza extension.

While that would be big news, its not exactly the news those guys would be talking about. Don't get me wrong, it would be "big news" but it seemed to be prefaced as news that would "shake up things". Just my interpretation, which means absolutely nothing.

I can only think of 4 things:

1) Rizzo Brought up (I hope not)

2) Garza Extension (Yes, please)

3) Wood Retiring

4) Wrigley Restoration Project

- Soriano traded (dare to dream)

- Castro extension

- Soto traded

- Dempster traded

..he does strike out a good bit. his babip's the last two years at AAA have to be crazy high.

His BA-non-BIP is .318 at present. His K/HR ratio is around 2:1. So even if his BABIP relaxed to a more average number, he'd still be hitting around .320.
