In his 11 innings since returning from the DL, Kenley Jansen has 20 K's and 0 BB's.

That's pretty decent.

Kenley Jansen being black is one of the most surprising things I've seen in a while. That's pretty much the whitest name ever.

And, yes, that K/9 is something to behold.

I had somehow never seen him until yesterday. And I looked it up, he's from Curacao, which makes the name thing make sense and me feel like a dick because the last name is likely slave related going back hundreds of years I'm sure.

In the Western Hemisphere, yes. Anyway, guy is a great pitcher. Dumb of me to even make a comment despite my amazement.

the cardinals have allowed fewer runs in their first 62 games of the season than any team since 1972.

seriously, [expletive] that team right in the face.

Also...

Cardinals staff xFIP: 3.50

Cubs staff xFIP: 3.39

Cardinals staff ERA: 2.65

Cubs staff ERA: 3.59

btw - the second "luckiest" staff near the top of the leaderboard? The pirates at ERA: 2.83 xFIP: 3.40

I wasn't trying to be an ass. He's just been a closer/high leverage guy on a big market club for quite a while with over 100 saves. It does sound like a white name. I was just surprised you hadn't seen him. He was also in the news for a heart issue.

MLB.tv down to $50 ($40 for non-premium) for Father's Day week, and you get a free code for RBI Baseball 15. Looks like MiLB.TV is $20 as an add-on too.

Technically, Curaçao is still part of The Netherlands (hence his white name)

Wish there was a good way to quantity defense and its impact on ERA vs. xFIP. Then, we could prove the Cubs have a large (or small*) PDIP (Pixie Dust Independent Pitching), while the Pirates and Reds are very low (or high*).

*I'm not sure if it would be a good thing to have a high or low PDIP.

Add this to the day's events: relievers are out playing catch right now to test their arms, but not Trevor Rosenthal. #stlcards #cardinals

That was a really great read. Nice work, John Baker.

The comments are as bad as the piece is good.

I'm imagining 80% of those comments are beer gutted Cardinals fans. That's some seriously meathead crap right there.
