Hate Scully. Senile boring old man.

Thank you. It's so ridiculous how revered he is in LA.

Never would've figured somebody on NSBB would've admitted to having heard Royals at some point.

How could you not have heard it? It's catchy as hell and everywhere.

I know. I was making a joke.

In the music thread, people will deny having ever heard songs that are constantly playing everywhere no matter where you go. Hipster NSBB.

I've never heard the song and until this thread, I had never even heard of the song. Is it good? Should I listen to it?

Carlos Gomez is a lunatic.

He has a tendency to admire his home runs, and I get why Cole was a little peeved, but Cole could've just ignored it and been happy with the fact Gomez looked stupid admiring a ball in play. Had Gomez been hustling out of the gate it would've been an inside-the-parker instead of a triple. Gomez wouldn't have gone crazy if Cole didn't nag him into it

0% chance of that being an inside the park home run.

Of that whole episode, no one is blameless, but the blame goes mostly to Gomez for losing his mind, and to Snider for being the world's worst tough guy and extending the whole episode. Cole shouldn't have said anything, but to his credit once he said his piece he didn't try and fight Gomez when Gomez started in at him.

I disagree. If you time it he took about 6 seconds to get to first base as he admired his "home run", but he took about 6.5 seconds to get from first to third. Carlos Gomez is fast, he could've easily made that an inside the parker if he was running hard out of the batters box. Might've been close, but it's not 0%

If he had been running out of the gate, McCutchen would've seen that there was no chance at 3rd base and hit the cutoff man instead of throwing all the way through. Best case scenario is he's out by 10 feet at the plate, unless McCutchen had another brain fart like he did against the Cubs and lobbed it to the SS or something.

Considering that 4 seconds to first is flying, you're giving him 2 seconds to get from 3rd to home when he took 3.25 to get between bases from 1st to 3rd. You have bad maths.

You can take out your phone, open a stopwatch app, and time it yourself if you want. Just making an observation. He's one of the fastest players in the majors. Could he have been out at the plate? Sure. Would he have been dead to rights? I don't think that'd be a guarantee.

Carlos Gomez is a lunatic.

Anyone else think he's on some kind of PEDs? He never hit more than 8 HRs in any year in the minors, seems to have a short temper and look who is his teammate.

He kind of owns

Agreed. Also the story, if I recall correctly, for his spike in homers was that he claimed when he came over to the Brewers and broke out he approached management and asked them if he could swing the bat freely. Since coming up in the minors he was a speedster and he apparently was groomed by the Mets and the Twins to be a prototypical lead off Juan Pierre type... slappy singles hitter with good speed. As soon as Brewers management let him do what he wanted he started hitting homers. Or so the story goes.

Finally watched this; that was great. [expletive] Cole.

I am by no means a proponent of the "unwritten rules", nor do I have anything against arrogant, flashy players in general; I think a little bit of showboating is fun.

But the reason I cannot stand Gomez is because he's a [expletive] spaz to boot. I cannot stand spazes. If he responded to these confrontations with a cocky, dismissive "what the [expletive] ever, I'll do what I want" attitude, that's would be cool. Losing your [expletive] is not cool.

Cole clearly cussed him out and just walked off without looking back and acknowledging his reaction, while Travis Snider walked up and got in his face and talked [expletive] to him

Yeah, Gomez isn't blameless in this, but it's not all that "spazzy" when other guys are talking [expletive] and then getting in his face.

Gomez was already freaking out well before Snider got anywhere in his vicinity, he pretty much was as soon as Cole turned his back on him. If Gomez didn't start back towards Cole while yelling at him, none of the rest of it happens. I don't care that he cadillac-ed out of the box, or admired his non-home run. But the guy clearly has issues. Players jaw at each other over this kind of [expletive] all the time, and very few react like Carlos Gomez when it happens.

It's not all the fault of hypersensitive unwritten rules freaks that Gomez keeps ending up in the middle of this sort of thing, though I'm sure the incident last year has earned him a rep (and deservedly so; as big a douche as McCann was in that thing, Gomez was being a total psycho) and a little extra attention from opponents.

But we don't have to agree about this, and I'm not going to argue it any further.
