I didn't really see him play much... only in his comeback. But everything I've seen/heard of him since rubs me the wrong way. #1 on my list being inexplicably calling out Sosa in his HOF acceptance speech.

I love the idea that this is somehow a thing that should have happened years ago. He's got like 6 years of coaching under his belt, there has to be dozens of guys with more "a long time in the making" on their resume than him.

I'm just saying that it's never a good idea to paint the entire board (or large segments of it) with the same brush. Better to argue with specific points that are actually being made.

I think it's more the hate for the situation when he didn't get hired to be the Cubs coach how ever many years ago after he had like 1 or 2 minor league season under his belt and him and all the meatheads got all pissy about him not getting the job.

Below is the post that caused me to comment. Sure it was the only one on this thread (still a new story) but I have seen similar type comments a lot over the time I've spent here. I don't really see any of this on any other message boards I visit so it sticks out to me more here, I guess.

Seriously though, can you imagine that story happening today? Was it one year after he signed what was then the biggest contract in MLB history? A perennial all star on the HOF fast track with what was a pristine reputation just quitting out of nowhere to spend time with his family, only to divorce his harpy wife and come back a much worse player. That ranks right up there with any interesting baseball story, although baseball players, by rule, are not interesting.
