I'm not sure it's that undeserved. He has the second highest WAR in the AL, and the highest wOBA. His WAR is dragged down by fielding and baserunning, but he's not a terrible choice for MVP.

It's not that undeserved since it's not like he's the eighth best player or anything. But if you're factoring more than just what each player does while in the batter's box, Trout is pretty clearly a better player.

Fair enough - I probably was too harsh against Cabrera. But he's definitely behind Trout and the push for him from the national media seems larger than necessary.

 

Also, I find it odd that the non-SABR media seems to favor Cabrera over Trout since a lot of Trout's value comes from his speed and defense.
