Delgado's agent hs heard nothing about a trade. :banghead:

Does that really matter? It's not like Delgado has a whole lot of say in stopping a trade or approving one. He doesn't have a NTC or anything I doubt anyone on either side of this (Jed, Theo, Wren) first thought was to talk to Delgado's agent. Especially if this thing is still not 100% done.

yeah I wouldn't think his agent would come into this until he's called to tell his client to pack his bags for Des Moines or Chicago.

@joe_sheehan

The #Braves have vacated the Dempster trade

:(

@joe_sheehan

Whoops. Uh, that was a "vacated" joke. (But the trade does not seem to have been completed.)

What a dick.

Wow, Sheehan.

He'd been making jokes about people/organizations 'vacating' things that were bad ideas (as a Penn State tangent).

Until now he's mainly represented dogs.

I never thought there would be a reason to hate Dempster, but if he torpedoes this thing I will have to reconsider my Dempster fandom

We love you Demp. Now please leave.

Heyman says that the Cubs and Braves agreed, but that the tweet indicates that 10 and 5 rights could be in play.

Yeah, seems the most logical thing. Too many people have chimed in that the trade is in place so at this point, it probably comes down to Dempster needing to approve it or Dempster trying to get an extension out of the Braves.

Oh [expletive] him. If he likes the Cubs as much as he says he does, then just approve it. If Theo and Ricketts didn't have his approval to begin with, they messed up, too. This whole thing is getting bizarre and dumb. Let's hope it all ends up going through and we don't have another DLee or Fred McGriff situation.

Something I found at PSD...

I wasn't fully paying attention to what Judd Sirott was just saying on MLBN, but something about Dempster not being fully aware of what was happening because he was napping when the news broke. So maybe it's just that; the trade hasn't been made official yet, and Demp wasn't fully clued in on things, but maybe it has nothing to do with 10-5 stuff.

Maybe he is a very heavy sleeper.

Man, settle down, people.

It can't be a great feeling, if I'm Demp, to have to hear a deal reported as being done on Twitter before you've had the chance to let it sink in. I'd drag my feet, too, in the interest of keeping what little power I had left.

From the media reports previously, it sure sounded like the Dodgers and Braves were his preferred choice so I too find it hard to believe he hadn't approved them as destinations. I wonder if this is all just a case of Twitter/media able to break stories sooner than in years past and thus not giving Dempster and the Cubs the time they need to conduct some routine pre-trade activity.

i just want to get this over with before the braves come to their senses.

this is Karma for Maddox. Theo has already reversed the curse.

We play the Braves in the last series again.

If the season ended today, the Braves would come to Pittsburgh for that one game playoff.

This is all about me.

Dempster says he doesn't want to discuss the rumor.

I'm hoping maybe it's just something trivial holding the deal up like Dempster not having had a chance to discuss the move with his family yet.

Knowing that this was on the horizon, and knowing which team were the hottest on his trail (LA, ATL, WAS) shouldn't he have had the discussion by now? And more importantly, shouldn't Theo and Jed have gotten his approval by now? I really hope he doesn't [expletive] us like Lee did the Astros. Sure, they moved him like the next day but got an inferior return.

Yep, as stated above, waiting on Dempster

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Cubs and Braves are waiting on Ryan Dempster's approval on a trade that would send him to Atlanta.

The Cubs and Braves have reportedly reached agreement on a deal that would sent Dempster to Atlanta for 22-year-old right-hander Randall Delgado. However, Dempster wrote on his Twitter account Monday afternoon that "there is no trade." The veteran right-hander has 10-and-5 rights and can veto any deal, so he must give his formal approval first. He has indicated in the past that he would be willing to join a contender, so just because he has veto power doesn't mean he'll use it in this case.

I fully believe Sulleys "my teams" curse thing: if I spell Greg's name correctly, it wont happen.

Apparently, Demp told someone that was just on MLBN that he had "information to digest"
