chris volstad being f'd in the ass by the baseball gods

Did the "baseball gods" walk Nix?

coming into the game he'd walked 4 hitters and he has a whip of 1.27 and era over 6. he's getting f'd in the a.

And so is Ian Stewart! Or maybe they just aren't good. If it's one year it's fine but this is a trend.

Unlucky or not, I've seen enough of Volstad. At some point you have to stop the bleeding and he is incapable of doing that.

You won't be able to either after we find you!

We're going to score some runs tonight, it's not over yet.

Of course it's not over yet, but a four run hole is tough for this offense to overcome especially considering the Phillies are just as likely to score a few more on Volstad and the bullpen.

Heading into tonight:

Volstad OPS against with runners on: .985

Bases Empty: .486

Obviously there's a selection bias whereas if runners are on, odds are the pitcher doesn't have as good of stuff, but here are his career #s.

Runners on: .818

Empty: .734

I do know how to read stats but I hate luck stats. At least from what I've seen out of Volstad is as soon as he gets into any kind of trouble he just breaks down and gives up runs. And then for the rest of the game, he'll shut down an offense when a game is out of hand.

I really feel like that blown call to open the game really plays a huge impact here. If DeJesus is correctly called safe, Campana bunts him over, and Starlin probably gets him in. Who knows if Volstad would have been as bad with a lead. Annoying.

Assuming you've seen every inning of every Volstad start, you've seen 22 innings coming into tonight.

Well yeah talking about this year specifically. Can't stay I caught many Chris Volstad starts when he was a Marlin although I do know I was fond of him when he debuted in 2008.

Soto is bad... he's nowhere near the same hitter as he was in 08

He was actually better in 2010 than 2008 it just went unnoticed because the team was so bad. But yeah Soto is bad both offensively and defensively.
