I have no idea how I could figure it out. All I know is it was some time in either the late 80's, maybe 1990 against the Cardinals, and it was the first game of a double header. Sandberg, Grace, Ozzie Smith... don't remember much else.

first cubs game was in st. louis in, i want to say, '88 or '89...i remember sandberg hitting a HR off the foul pole and then waiting outside for the players to come out and get on the bus...sutcliffe was my fave player at the time and i remember him acknowledging me when i yelled at him(was on my dads shoulders)

That's more than likely it. Good job!

84 or 85 (I was 6 or 7). Against the Mets. The Cubs won. Probably June-August. That's all I can remember without thinking more about it. Hard to recall the difference between those early games.

I was gonna do that one, too, but I decided to let you have one.

August 8, 1970. The Cubs lost to the Phillies 6-3. I was about six rows up from the center field scoreboard and spent most of the game with my glove on waiting to make a dramatic catch of a Cubs home run ball. I was six at the time, so I had no idea how rare it is for homers to be hit where I was sitting. But I was still ready.

got the tix/airfare/hotel booking as a HS graduation gift from my grandparents and great grandma...got to go to a game the next day. may have been an awful season and outcome, but i got to see ramirez, lee, zambrano, and juan freakin' pierre hit home runs in the two day span. also got to carlos marmol be all electric and stuff as a starter. still the only games i've been to.

Whatever the infamous Diaz extra innings home run game was in 2004 at Shea.

Wow. Never go to a game again.

it was definitely in the 1980s and definitely at veteran's stadium ( :x ), wouldn't have a clue beyond that.

this was definitely my first cubs game attended at wrigley. the next game (also against the padres) was more notable; jon lieber pitched well but it was his last game before tommy john surgery (i wouldn't say he blew it out during this game - his elbow was pretty fucked for most of the year and he finally couldn't go any more), the cubs imploded in the top of the 8th and went down 4 runs, then scored 5 runs in the last 2 innings to win (with crappy alex gonzalez hitting a game-winning 2 run, 2 out double off trevor hoffman)

I'm surprised so many people say they remember their first. I certainly don't remember much of anything about my first few in the 86-89 years.

By the end of the decade, my father was a firm Cubs-hater, so the first MLB game I remember details of was Bobby Thigpen increasing his single season save record to 51.

I was 13 and most of what I remember from the game is just how crummy Shea Stadium was and how obnoxious Mets fans were. There was an old lady sitting behind us who had a whiny voice and kept referring to Desi Relaford as "my Desi" the whole game. And not like he was her son; she just loved him irrationally.

haha it's always old people that are like that. i went to an orioles game and some old lady just loved (starting pitcher) jason johnson. he wasn't even good! (but was probably the ace of those awful pitching staffs)

I was at the game Mark Prior ran into Marcus Giles and the game he was hit by a line drive in the elbow. Sorry, guys.

It was probably 1985, but possibly 1984. It was a day where kids under a certain age could get their picture taken before the game with a Cubs player. Somewhere I've still got a picture of 3-year-old me sitting on Leon Durham's lap.

First I'm old enough to remember: I know it was 1995, a Cubs win, and Scott Servais homered to left field. This is my best guess:
