Just noticed Cubs pitchers combined to strike out 10 tonight.

 

Makes me nostalgic for the multi-year run where we set a strikeout record every single year it seemed like.

 

Led the majors for something like six or seven straight years.

I still don't quite get how we accomplished that. It never seemed like we had a staff of overpowering guys in that stretch except for 03 when we had Wood/Prior going on all cylinders.

I haven't looked at all the years, but here's a crazy stat.

 

In 2006, the Cubs led the majors in K's despite having only one starting pitcher (Z with 210) who had over 100 K's on the season.
